Turin, 19 May 2024 – In the last home appearance of the season, Turin wears its best dress and overwhelms Milan with a clear 3-1 bringing home three points that keep the flame of hope of qualifying for the next Conference League alive. What made the difference were the different motivations and the greater competitive malice of the Granata who, despite leaving the ball of the game at times to the Rossoneri, struck with cynicism with the goring of Zapata in the 26th minute and then doubled the lead before the break with a another winning header from Ilic. At the beginning of the second half, Rodriguez's former player scored the hat trick with a whip that landed under the top corner. Having ended up 3-0 down, Milan then tried to react with Pioli's substitutions and Bennacer's penalty, but they never actually managed to reopen the game.
At the end of the match, the Granata coach Ivan Yuric he praised the performance of his team and in particular Rodriguez but in fact announced his farewell at the end of the season: “The relationship I have with the boys is fabulous – Juric told DAZN -. We have been together for three years. Ricardo is special. He shouldn't have stayed but then we met, a great feeling was created, he decided to stay and we did three fantastic years together, in which we were always on the left side of the table and he always played. I criticized him for never scoring a goal and today he showed up with that goal. Future? I like challenges, feelings, love. It is not important to fight for salvation or other goals if the right feelings are there. I've had a lot of fun with the kids over the years. I enjoyed it very much. We inherited a disastrous situation. Final farewell? I think so. Like I said, we did great. We want to get to Europe because it would be the icing on the cake. I really believe in it and it would be really fantastic to end this three-year period like this. There were good things and others that made me feel a little bad. I hope I have not become more cunning and cynical and have remained myself, proactive and sincere. Sometimes I may not have achieved everything I had in mind. On a technical level, perhaps more could have been done, but I think we always got the best from the group." On the environment: “This team played a fabulous match against Bologna and was booed. Also against Milan we were fabulous but there were challenges to the president. There's always something. All this becomes heavy. We should enjoy these guys, a beautiful team."
