Torino-Monza 1-1: Caprari responds to Sanabria and catches the Granata again
The Olimpico Grande Torino match ends in a draw. It all happens in the second half

Serie A: Turin-Moza
Turin, 7 May 2023 – At the Olimpico Grande Torino the match between the hosts Granata and Monza ends 1-1. A draw that is perhaps a bit too close to Toro - without any home victories since March - who already from the first half tried to play the game by seeking the goal with greater insistence (a goal for Miranchuk was disallowed in the 36th minute) compared to to a Monza that relied on Ciurria's flashes. The goal that broke the deadlock, however, arrived just 30" after the start of the match and was scored by Sanabria, who did well to pierce Di Gregorio with a right low shot from the edge. Having overcome the disadvantage, Monza still did not give up and, thanks also to Peluso's substitutions and the move to 4-2-3-1, he found the equalizer 4' from the 90' with Caprari's right-footed shot. At the end there was then room for strong protests from the Granata, caused by a very suspicious hold by Rovella against Ricci.
The choices of Juric and Peluso
Juric opts for the usual 3-4-2-1: the injured Schuurs is not in the defensive package in front of Milinkovic-Savic: Buongiorno is in his place together with Djidji Rodriguez. On the right wing, however, the push of the suspended Singo is lacking, replaced by Lazaro. Completing the midfield are Ricci, Ilic and Vojvoda, who operates on the left-handed lane. On the other hand, Miranchuk and Vlasic act in support of the Sanabria striker. Federico Peluso is on the Monza bench instead of the suspended Palladino. The red and whites line up with a mirror formation: protecting the goalkeeper Di Gregorio there is a three-man line made up of Izzo, Marì and Caldirola. Birindelli and Carlos Augusto operate on the flanks, with Machin and Pessina manning the midfield (at least initially on the bench for Sensi and Rovella). Colpani is missing from the attacking midfield but Ciurria and Valoti are there to support striker Dany Mota, chosen in place of Petagna.
First half
The first problems for Monza arrive after just 6', when Marì is forced to raise the white flag after a clash with Izzo and Vlasic and make way for Marlon. On the opposite front, Torino tries to take advantage of the initial difficulties of the red and whites and after just 7' becomes dangerous with a right-footed shot from Vlasic, who gets the shot after a good exchange with Rodriguez. The Granata are the ones who take the ball straight away with an insistent phrasing in search of the right shot but also good pressing when not in possession. In the 20th minute Juric's men became dangerous again with Miranchuk's left-footed shot from the edge of the box which forced Di Gregorio to work overtime again to remove the ball from the face of goal. Monza's first response is contained in the beautiful personal initiative of Ciurria, who, however, from distance was unable to concretely worry Milinkovic-Savic. Not satisfied, the Emilian attacker tries again with a photocopy action in the 28th minute, but once again the Granata goalkeeper is ready and deflects the ball into a corner. However, it is still Torino who plays the game, protesting in the 32nd minute due to a contact between former Granata player Izzo and Buongiorno. After a VAR check the decision is made to continue and in the 36th minute the Granata pass with Miranchuk, quick to save a short rebound from Di Gregorio after a shot from Vlasic: once again, however, it is the VAR that intervenes and ad canceling the grenade's advantage due to a touch of Sanabria's arm in the initial stages of the action that led to the goal. An adverse decision that did not upset Juric's men, who insisted on playing on the wings and on Miranchuk's inventions and before the break they came close to taking the lead again with Vojvoda's right-footed shot to the near post, deflected for a corner by yet another , excellent save by Di Gregorio. Buongiorno's header was also treacherous as he failed to hit the opponent's goal from an excellent position. However, the goal doesn't arrive and so, after 5 minutes of injury time, the teams return to the locker rooms still at 0-0.
Second half
After the interval Peluso puts Rovella in Machìn's place, but Torino's restart is burning: after just 30", in fact, the Granata recover the ball in the attacking midfield and they broke the deadlock with Sanabria who, having received the ball from Vlasic, sent a right-footed low shot to cross from the edge of the area which went behind the innocent Di Gregorio. The goal gives further confidence to the Granata team who display great intensity and a lot of aggression. Peluso then decides to shuffle the cards and throw Petagna and Caprari into the fray instead of Valoti and Birindelli. The former Napoli striker immediately tries to make himself dangerous and in the 61st minute he attacks the depth, winning a corner from Dany Mota's cross. As the minutes passed, the Lombards tried to raise their center of gravity and take more of the initiative and in the 65th minute they came close to equalizing at the culmination of a nice combination between Rovella and Carlos Augusto, whose shot was stopped by Milinkovic's intervention with his feet -Savic. Toro tries to let the storm pass and in the 73rd minute they are seen again in Di Gregorio's area with Miranchuk's placed shot, deflected for a corner by the providential save of the red and white goalkeeper. The match takes off and on the turnaround in front it is Monza who wastes an opportunity again with Carlos Augusto who kicks the ball high over the crossbar after Petagna's discharge. Juric then tries to throw fresh forces into the fray by inserting Seck, Karamoh, Linetty and Adopo in place of Vlasic, Miranchuk and Ilic. In Monza, however, there is also room for Sensi who takes Caldirola's place. In the 79th minute the guests tried again with a tricky shot from Caprari which Milinkovic-Savic was ready for. Juric then chooses to change structure by strengthening the midfield with Adopo and Bayeye and effectively switching to 3-5-2, but Monza believes in it and, after coming close to equalizing with Ciurria's left-footed shot in the 84th minute, he scored the 1-1 with an unstoppable right-footed shot from Caprari. In the 87th minute there was room for new protests from Torino for one withheld from Rovella against Ricci: after a long VAR check, however, the penalty is not awarded and the match continues with great intensity but without further shocks and at Zufferli's final whistle the match ends at 1-1. scoreboard Turin (3-4-2-1): Milinkovic-Cavic; Djidji, Good Morning, Rodriguez; Lazaro, Ricci, Ilic (from 75' Linetty), Vojvoda; Miranchuk (from 75' Karamoh), Vlasic (from 75' Seck); Sanabria.
