Torino-Fiorentina, one game action

Florence, 21 May 2023 - Above all, we needed not to lose and Fiorentina did it. The race for eighth place remains possible and a draw Turin postpone everything to the next two days.

There are two points to recover Monza, but today it was difficult to do more. Good news from Jovic, who returned to scoring after several weeks, and above all all the big names were rested for Wednesday.

Italian presents himself at the Olimpico in Turin with ten different elevenths compared to last Thursday's starting lineup.

Only Igor had continuity of employment. In front of Cerofolini a defensive line made up of Venuti, Quarta, Igor and Terzic. In the midfield, Duncan and Mandragora, Saponara (unusually deployed on the right), Barak, Sottil and Kouame in the first striker role. Pleasant match, even if the opportunities were lacking. Especially the heavy ones. Fiorentina holds the pitch well even with many players accustomed to seeing less of the pitch.

Italiano pushes from the bench to insistently look for the left chain with Terzic and Sottil, but the attacking winger never finds the winning play except for a couple of soft solutions that end just over the crossbar.

Even in defence, Fiorentina held up well, with Cerofolini playing a lot of balls with his feet in the defensive dribble. The second half is a completely different matter, with Italiano sending the ball onto the pitch Jovic from the start of the second half in place of Sottil. As a consequence of this, Kouame and Saponara moved to the right on the opposite front of the attack.

A couple of minutes and Fiorentina took the lead. Nice play in the middle of the Mandragora field, Kouame goes away on the right and puts a perfect ball in the center which the same Jovic heads the ball towards goal.

Several minutes of Toro's heeling followed, but Fiorentina was unable to get a definitive grip on the match, with Barak and Saponara narrowly missing out on doubling their lead. As often happens, open matches present risks and Torino drew with the only real chance of their match.

Good morning, let's move to the left, low cross for Sanabria who anticipates Igor and diagonally beats Cerofolini. The rest is little stuff, the two teams drag on until the final whistle amidst the deafening whistles of the Granata fans for Break it, overwhelmed every time the Croatian came into possession of the ball.

Good point for Fiorentina, which rises to 50 points on par with Turin and Bologna, two points behind Monza. The race for eighth place will be decided in the next two days, with the Viola playing against Roma and Sassuolo.
