Mountain Tournament: the groups. Villa Minozzo and Cervarezza in the same group

Reggio Emilia, May 19, 2025 – The groups of the 73rd edition of the Mountain Tournament were drawn in the setting of the Onda della Pietra in Castelnovo Monti, again organized by the Csi of Reggio.

Three groups of 4 and one of 5, composed as follows.

GROUP A: Montecavolo, Baiso, Collagna, Cerredolese. GROUP B: Castellarano, Felina, Villa Minozzo, Cervarezza. GROUP C: Querciolese, Trinità, Carpineti, Castelnovo Capitale. GROUP D: Cavola, Leguigno, Borzanese, Gatta, Roteglia.

Given the number of participants (17), the proposals put on the table by the Csi were two: one with two groups of 6 and one of 5, and one with three groups of 4 and one of 5. After the vote, the majority opted for the formula with four groups (three of 4 and one of 5). This formula won with an overwhelming 14 to 3. The first two of each group qualify for the quarter-finals, while for group D (the one with 5) there was a long debate, and in the end this was chosen: after the first round of matches, the fifth will be eliminated, and then two more rounds will be played to determine the first two (keeping the points from the first phase). The first will challenge the third and fourth, and the second will face the third and fourth.

The formula: first-leg and second-leg matches in the groups of 4, one-way match in group D.

Let's remember the two main dates. Kick-off on Sunday 8th June; the finals, as already known, will be on Saturday 26th July at the Coni Centre in Castelnovo Monti (Amateurs and Juniors).

Junior Chapter: 11 participants, and here are the groups.

GROUP A: Gatta, Montalto, Cervarezza, Felina, Querciolese, Leguigno. GROUP B: Carpineti, Villa Minozzo, Borzanese, Trinità, Castelnovo Capitale.

The top three in each group qualify, with the top three going straight to the semifinals, while the second and third teams will play the knockout quarterfinals on the court of the second team. The winners will play the semifinals, and then the final, which will be played in Vezzano on Thursday, July 24 (before the Amateurs' final).
