Rome, 17 February 2025 - Among the most suggestive operations of the last transfer market is the transfer of Julian Alaphilippe laid down by the Soudal Quick Step to the Tudor Pro Cycling Team: apparently a step backwards in his career, but perhaps not for the Frenchman, who after months continues to appear enthusiastic about the news.

Alaphilippe's statements

The class of '92 was intercepted by the microphones of the portal idlprocycling.com, to whom he firmly claimed his choice. "The right time had come for a change in my career. When I started talking to the Tudor Pro Cycling Team I understood how much they really wanted me and, moreover, I found a team that is young but with an important philosophy behind it, similar to mine. They know where they want to get to and so I am motivated and happy with my choice. I am ready for this adventure, which was all I needed". The honeymoon that is still underway is however overshadowed by a concern that concerns Alaphilippe and the whole France, still at the feet of one of its most representative runners in recent years despite the recent decline: the dilemma Tour de France, linked to the assignment of wild cards for a team, the Swiss one, which has a license only Professional. "We can't think too far ahead. Our hope is to participate in all the races we want. I don't deny that it would be fantastic to go to the Tour de France with this team, but now we have to focus only on current events. First of all - continue Alaphilippe - it would already be important to be present at all the Classics". And then, moving on to the National, who knows, maybe the two-time world champion will also be tempted by the suggestive ones World Cup in Rwanda. "They say it will be a very difficult race and we know that when a race is like this it becomes fertile ground for Tadej pogacar. So I'm not thinking about it at the moment. Tadej since 2024 He was spectacular and I hear he hasn't shown his full potential yet. It will be difficult to beat him and probably it won't be up to me. pogacar he is a phenomenon, the best runner in the world and for this sport it is an honour to have such a champion. Having said that, I will only think about myself". On the horizon for the '92-born rider there is a three-year period at Tudor Pro Cycling Team which in turn is a prelude to many doubts about what will happen next. "I will live my best season after season. I want to work and I am motivated and 35 years, when my contract expires, I will be happy even if I can just stay at a high level. Fortunately, however, I am also a father and therefore I have other priorities, which in turn help me to live cycling more lightly despite the fact that in recent times I have experienced several complicated moments due to falls and injuries".
