Cyclocross, Pidcock's announcement: "I won't be there this year"
After the confirmed presences of Van Aert and Van Der Poel, the British rider has withdrawn: "I've changed teams and I prefer to take some time to get used to the new reality"

Tom Pidcock (Ansa)
Rome, 17 December 2024 - Cyclocross and the big names that come on loan from the road: a combination that is not going to please everyone. Athletes, especially mud specialists, do not like the 'interference' of cycling's big names that take away their spotlight and attention, while l'UCI obviously pushes for that three-way which in recent years has brought even those who are not exactly enthusiasts closer to the winter discipline: triello which will not be there this year, as confirmed by tom pidcock.
Pidcock's announcement
Se Wout van aert e Mathieu van der Poel they will challenge each other in 4 occasions, the British rider has instead decided to set aside his most beloved discipline for this winter with the goal announced in recent months of focusing on the road to redeem a rather disappointing year last year. "On Sunday I saw my first cyclocross race of the season and that reminded me that I should officially say that I won't be there this year": these are the words of pidcock rely on their social channels. It probably has a lot to do with it too the recent hiring at Q36.5 Pro Cycling Team, a team that apparently is also thinking about a free agent Elia Viviani, in turn exiting from the Ineos Grenadiers, to further strengthen the sector of runners for one-day races: this theory is confirmed by the same pidcock in the continuation of his post. "I will face many changes and I want to have time to settle in and adapt to them, also to get to know my new teammates better. But next year I will definitely return to cyclocross."
Riis on Pogacar
Meanwhile Bjarne riis, a much discussed (and debatable) character from the recent past of the cycling world, talks about Tadej pogacar and he does it by surprising us as usual. "Everyone complains, instead of thinking more strategically, an element that I think is missing in recent cycling. Many feel sorry for those who go too fast instead of doing something concrete to go faster themselves". Said like this, by a self-confessed doping offender in particular with regard to the victory of the Tour de France 1996, one would almost be afraid, but at the microphones of Cafe Eddy The Dane immediately tries to explain himself better. "It is not forbidden to be intelligent and creative: if you are facing someone stronger than you, the only way to beat him is to use your head". Rice he then talks about himself and the closed chapter linked to a life spent in the flagship, with the last adventure therefore remaining that of Tinkoff. "I tried this thing and I see no reason to do it again today. I have encountered too much resistance on my path to my way of doing things and I do not want to give in to compromises anymore. I have a clear thought on how cycling should be and how to train professional teams, and in general I can say that I am tired of trying to impose myself".
