The Welshman and the Slovenian are celebrating, second by 1" but from now on with the same margin on Pedersen in the general classification. Ayuso loses 17", while the Italians, led by Tiberi, are going strong

Giro d'Italia, Primoz Roglic in the Tirana time trial (Ansa)
Tirana (Albania), 10 May 2025 - The stage 2 of the Giro d'Italia 2025 includes the first of two time trials, which as always offers two races in one. The first rewards the specialist Joshua Tarling thanks to a time of 16'07 ", and the second is the one concerning the fight for the general classification, which is also well intertwined with the partial success if we think about the simple second, if not something less, left on the asphalt by Primois RoglicThe Welshman becomes the youngest rider to win a time trial in the Corsa pink, while the Slovenian snatches the symbol of primacy from a generous Mads pedersen, among other things still for 1", in addition to obviously gaining on all rivals: including Juan Ayuso, the best among the big names who is already paying today anyway 16" late, with Antonio Tiberi a 25", Richard Carapaz a 37", Davide Piganzoli a 40" e Julius Ciccone a 42", before all the others gradually appear. Before saying goodbye to theAlbania, with an attached day of rest and transfer to management Puglia, the stage 3 will bring the caravan from Walloon a Walloon after 160 km very complicated, with 2 GPM on the program (including one of the second category in the final part of the track) and well 2.800 meters of altitude difference.
The chronicle of stage 2 of the Giro d'Italia 2025
Il Giro d'Italia 2025 starts again from 13,7 km time trial in the heart of Tirana: a large dish for specialists with a fourth category GPM in the middle, that of suck (1,5 km with an average slope of 4,9%), which could slightly shuffle the cards and which also coincides with the intermediate of the first survey. The first interesting time is the one set by ethan hayter (Soudal Quick-Step), who concludes his test in 16'21 " after passing through 10'26 " at the half time. This last detection is lowered by the 10'19 " di Jan Tratnik (Red-Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe), which however for 4" fails to beat the current leader. Then it's the turn of a big favorite like Edward Affini (Visma-Lease a Bike), which lowers the intermediate time first in 10'15 " and then place the best final timing (16'13 "): Dan Hoole (Lidl-Trek) equals it in the first area, but not in the second and by just 2". Nothing to be done for a potential protagonist like Luke Plop (Team Jayco AlUla), who slips in a curve. The other Australian is much better off Jay Vine (UAE Team Emirates-XRG), which sets in 10'10 " the new best time at the intermediate: it is the prelude to the 16'10 " which is worth the new time to beat. To do so, for just 3", is Joshua Tarling (Ineos Grenadiers), good at recovering exactly the same margin of delay at the intermediate: his teammate Thymen Arensmann (Ineos Grenadiers) leaves on the asphalt well 22", with the same time that also touches Daniel Felipe Martinez (Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe). Then the men enter the scene, fighting for the general classification much more than the Dutchman, who was already disappointing yesterday. Juan Ayuso (UAE Team Emirates-XRG) pays 6" to the intermediate, which become 13" for Adam Yates (UAE Team Emirates-XRG) and 22" for Egan Bernal (Ineos Grenadiers), while Brandon McNulty (UAE Team Emirates-XRG) instead pays only 2" to the intermediate, only to lose it 11" at the finish. Mathias Vacek (Lidl-Trek) writes new best time at intermediate: 10'08 ", equaled by Primois Roglic (Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe), but at the finish the wind plays a bad trick on him too, with 6" lost. The final time of Ayuso è 16'24 ": Bernal ends in 16'56 ", Yachts instead in 16'44 ". For Michael Storer (Tudor Pro Cycling Team) instead arrives a 16'35 ". Simon yates (Visma-Lease a Bike) ends in 16'41 ", while Isaac Del Toro (UAE Team Emirates-XRG) loses 18", which become 40" for Jay Hindley (Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe) e 52" for Romain Bardet (Team Picnic PostNL).
Roglic comes behind Tarling for just 1", but one can console oneself by thinking that one has gained on all the rivals for the ranking, including Ayuso. Antonio Tiberi (Bahrain Victorious) pays 14" of delay to the intermediate, which become 24" for Julius Ciccone (Lidl-Trek): Lazio ends in 16'33 ", that becomes 16'50 " for the Abruzzese. Lorenzo Fortunato (XDS Astana Team) closes in 17'32 ": Davide Piganzoli (Team Polti VisitMalta) reports a 16'48 ", Giulio Pellizzari (Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe) writes a 16'39 ", while Derek Gee (Israel-PremierTech) ends in 16'36 ". Richard Carapaz (EF Education-EasyPost) takes a risk in the usual corner: for him a 10'16 " in the intermediate and a 16'45 " final. tom pidcock (Q36.5 Pro Cycling Team) loses 23" in the intermediate, 34" for Francesco Busatto (Intermarché-Wanty), who yesterday entered history by being the first rider to be given a yellow card in a Great Tour: the British closes in 16'50 ", the blue in 17'10 ". Wout van aert (Visma-Lease a Bike) loses well 28" in the intermediate: for Mads pedersen (Lidl-Trek) the delay is instead of 10". The Belgian, very disappointing, finishes with a delay of 39" da Tarling, who celebrates the stage victory, while the Dane pays 12": a fatal time for his pink jersey, which thus goes on the shoulders of Roglic.
