The Piedmontese was intercepted by the microphones of theAdnkronos on the sidelines of the inauguration of the 162nd academic year of the Politecnico di Milano: the best opportunity to underline an increasingly tight bond. "I believe that lately technology is part of almost more than 80% of what produces physical performance alone. The material used, the components and the study behind it are part of a path that has been going on for years. In this period we are trying to go more and more to the extreme and to go more and more in search of innovation and research: I see it in my sport - he continues Ganna - but I think this is important in every discipline, for performance but also for the safety of the athletes". The Piedmontese knows the wind tunnel well Politecnico di Milano, made available to him several times, especially in view of his many commitments on the track. "It is a structure of vital importance for study and improvement. I thank this university, a source of pride for theItaly which has always opened the doors for us, allowing us to improve and move forward". Apparently, however, in the future of Top Ganna there will always be less track and more road. "This process is a consequence of the races that are held. If you make a list, the time spent on the track is less than in other events. In my case, I will perhaps choose not to participate in World Cup e World Cup to do some more training to improve on the road. But I won't abandon the track: it's also useful for those workloads that I can't get rid of". Finally, a comment on what the future goals will be. "The most important is to win as much as possible, which is always useful. However, there are many big names, who are doing well and who will now be enjoying a period of rest. We'll see what approach they will have to the recovery. I hope to be a little ahead of the last few years, because in terms of weight this time I haven't sunk below 90 kg and therefore I'll be able to start again strong".
Dowsett to the Astana Qazaqstan Team
The Italian is not lacking in self-irony, as far as the time trials are concerned, starting from 2022 no longer has Alex Dowsett as a rival. Having hung up his bike, the British rider is preparing to begin a new adventure as Performance Engineer dell 'Astana Qazaqstan Team, the almost former team of Mark Cavendish which would have strongly suggested this reinforcement at desk and experience level. It seems that until now this professional figure was completely absent in the Kazakh formation, with instead several individual riders who privately asked for the support of Dowsett, who also held the hour record, to improve its performance, particularly in aerodynamics and the so-called marginal gains.
