Issoire (France), 9 June 2025 - La stage 2 rewards one of the only five Italians at the start of the Tour of the Dauphiné 2025: the first 'real' sprint, unlike yesterday's which saw the most awaited men of the general classification as protagonists, goes to jonathan milan, which exploits with all its power the excellent work of the Lidl Trek, which already at Giro d'Italia 2025 had displayed his train at the service in that case of Mads pedersen. The party doesn't end here for the Friulian, who in the calculation between bonuses and best placings wins over Tadej pogacar, from whom he snatches the yellow jersey: obviously waiting for the mountains and much more challenging tests, a phrase that always has a certain effect. stage 3, the Brioude-Charantonnay di 207,2 km, puts the group yet again in front of another wavy path: 5 GPM, one of which was second category at the dawn of the fraction, which lend themselves to different tactical interpretations.

The chronicle of stage 2 of the 2025 Dauphiné XNUMX

The race starts again from Prémilhat-Issoire: 204,6 km with others 6 GPM to climb, including one second category at the end. Paul Ourselin (Cofidis), already in the lead yesterday, tries again, taking off on The Iron Cross, a climb not marked as a GPM. The first one on the program is the Font Nanaud Coast (3,5 km with an average slope of 4,6%): follow in quick succession the Cote de Saint-Priest-des-Champs (1,3 km with an average slope of 5%), The Coast of Rivauds (3,5 km with an average slope of 4,8%) and the Coast of Saint Jacques d'Ambour (3 km with an average slope of 5,1%) before the intermediate sprint of Olby, all the prerogative of Ourselin, which cements its polka dot mesh. The latter is then joined by Victor Guernalec (Arkéa-B&B Hotels), Romain Combaud (Team Picnic PostNL) and Christopher Jul Jensen (Team Jayco AlUla). On the Chateau de Buron Coast (3,3 km with an average slope of 6,9%) they come off Ourselin e Combaud before all the escape is reabsorbed. On the Nonette Coast (1,8 km with an average slope of 5,7%) snaps Romain Bardet (Team Picnic PostNL), on the home roads and at the farewell pace. The romantic epilogue, at least today, is not there: it's a sprint and the win Jonathan Milan (Lidl-Trek), who shows off all the watts possible after the great work of his team. Not only that: for a calculation between bonus points and best placings in these first two stages, the Friulian also snatches the yellow jersey from Tadej pogacar (UAE Team Emirates-XRG).
