Tour of Flanders 2025, Pogacar signs the double. The order of arrival
The Slovenian repeats his 2023 success and does it with five razor-sharp finishes: the last one, again on the Oude Kwaremont, is the one to free himself from Pedersen and Van Der Poel, second and third. Ganna and Ballerini instead arrive eighth and tenth after a day in the breakaway

Tadej Pogacar (Ansa)
Oudenaarde (Belgium), 6 April 2025 - After the success of the 2023 and last year's absence, Tadej pogacar signs the double by winning the Giro delle Fiandre 2025 creating a vacuum behind him at the fifth attempt, the one good for wearing down the resistance of the other phenomena, with the winner Mathieu van der Poel to lead the resistance before finishing third behind Mads pedersen. And to think that in the 269 km da Bruges a Oudenaarde all the big names had to deal with some setbacks: the Dutchman fell and the Slovenian was first attacked by theArkea-B&B Hotels during a physiological need before seeing his UAE Team Emirates-XRG almost end up in a block on the asphalt. The world champion begins to attack on theOude-Kwaremont and finishes the work right on the most iconic wall of the Round, where this year a lot of Italian was spoken thanks to the escape attempts of Filippo Gana, David Ballerini e Matteo Trentin, with the first two finishing eighth and tenth respectively: courage is not lacking, but in the end, and it is the eighth time overall in a Monument, the law dictates it pogacar, which thus redeems the disappointment of not winning at the Milan-Sanremo 2025.
The news
The first part of the race, completely flat in its initial 120 km, is characterized by the hunt for a good breakaway, opened by Jelle Vermoote (Wagner Bazin WB), but in front you can also see Bob jungels (Ineos Grenadiers): the first crash instead involves among others Lennert Van Eetvelt (Lotto Cycling Team), who later also had to deal with a mechanical problem, and Manlio Moro (Movistar Team). After more than an hour of racing, the breakaway is gone: it is made up of Elmar Reinders (Team Jayco AlUla), Alessandro Romele (XDS Astana Team), Connor Swift (Ineos Grenadiers), Rory Townsend (Q36.5 Pro Cycling Team), Mark Haller (Tudor Pro Cycling Team), Victor Vercouillie (Team Flanders-Baloise), Timo Roosen e Sean Flynn (Team Picnic PostNL), with Jens Reynders (Wagner Bazin WB) and Max Walker (EF Education-EasyPost) halfway. There is little to report except a brief flare-up of theArkea-B&B Hotels just Tadej pogacar (UAE Team Emirates-XRG) stops for a moment for a physiological break. The first stretch on cobblestones, that of Doorn (1,6 km) marks the end of the couple's (actually never successful) escape attempt Reynders Walker. The first step on theOude-Kwaremont (1,8 km with an average slope of 4,6%) in front sees Romele take the stage and get to the top first: in the group, however, the teammate falls David Ballerini (XDS Astana Team), Nils Politt e Jonathan Narvaez (UAE Team Emirates-XRG), while Filippo Gana (Ineos Grenadiers) is forced to change bikes due to a mechanical problem. The real twist comes shortly after, when a huge fall in the belly of the group also causes Mathieu van der Poel (Alpecin-Deceuninck), who however starts again immediately and after a few kilometres comes back: he also ends up on the asphalt Tim Wellens (UAE Team Emirates-XRG). On the Molenberg (400 meters with an average slope of 7%) lengthens Mike Teunissen (XDS Astana Team): then it's the teammate's turn Dancers. Then they see each other Tiesj Benoot (Visma-Lease a Bike), Stefan Kung (Groupama-FDJ) e Vito Braet (Intermanché-Wanty): they chase behind them Matteo Trentin (Tudor Pro Cycling Team), Quinten Hermans (Alpecin-Deceuninck) e Dan Hoole (Lidl Trek). Then it also follows them Ganna before the two groups reunite with each other and with what remains of the morning's fugitives, which happens shortly before the Berendries (900 meters with an average slope of 6,3%): Romele then he comes off due to cramps while from behind he pulls the only one UAE Team Emirates-XRG, isolated from the other teams and already with their backs to the wall: Van der Poel must instead change the bike. The race returns to theOude-Kwaremont and immediately attacks pogacar: to his wheel they bring Wout van aert, Matteo Jorgenson (Visma-Lease a Bike) e Mads Pedesen (Lidl-Trek). Later on it will also arrive Van der PoelThe four keep each other in check and this plays into the hands of both the leaders and the rest of the group, which falls back. On the Paterberg (400 meters with an average slope of 9%) then attacks Van der Poel, with pogacar to reply and the others to struggle before the return of Pedersen, Van Aert e Jorgenson: the new face is Jasper stuyven (Lidl-Trek), before returning from behind Neilson Powless (EF Education-EasyPost), Yevgeny Fedorov (XDS Astana Team) and Arjen Livyns (Lotto Cycling Team). On the Koppenberg (600 meters with an average slope of11%) the best group finds themselves on the front lines, with pogacar e Van der Poel to fly compared to others. Benoot, kung e Dancers they stay in front, while with pogacar e Van der Poel there are Trentino e Ganna. The reunion doesn't last long because then it happens Pedersen, imitated shortly after by pogacar 40 km from the finish. The Slovenian attacks again on the Taaienberg (600 meters with an average slope of 6,6%) and this time the only ones reply Van der Poel e Pedersen. Sull 'Old Kruisberg (2,5 km with an average slope of 4,3%) the couple reforms in front Pogacar - Van Der Poel, but the usual suspects are back below: to be precise Pedersen, Stuyven e Van Aert, with the latter snapping on theOude-KwaremontThe second razor stroke is of pogacar and this time, on the fifth attempt, Van der Poel he crashes. The Slovenian flies towards victory, the second after that of 2023, while behind him the fight for the placings is taking place: Pedersen comes second ahead of Van der Poel e Van Aert.
