Tour of Flanders 2025, Pogacar: "We have what it takes to win"
The Slovenian dreams of a quick redemption after his third place at the Milan-Sanremo: "Sunday will be another battle: I can't wait to repeat it, but with different circumstances"

Tadej Pogacar (Ansa)
Rome, 1 April 2025 – In the last few weeks on the planet Tadej pogacar several things have changed, in particular after the decision to include in its program the Paris-Roubaix at the expense of the first Classics Belgians. Obviously, the list does not include the Giro delle Fiandre 2025, which thanks to a sensational startlist heralds another day of great entertainment.
Pogacar's statements
The appointment is for Sunday April 6, a date that has long been marked in red on the Slovenian calendar. "The Tour of Flanders It's an extraordinary race and, certainly, it's one of the most important victories of my career. The energy and passion for cycling that you can feel in that region are something special". The champion of theUAE Team Emirates-XRG, who took home the second Monument of the year in 2023 after having placed the year before room: since then the seasonal objectives have been different, at least until the return of this year's flame. "The team is very strong and I think we have what it takes to make a great performance in pursuit of victory. At Milan-Sanremo - continues pogacar - we were good and there was a close battle until the end with the rivals of the day: I can't wait to repeat everything on Sunday, even if in different circumstances". Among the 'circumstances' to which the world champion refers there is probably also a different placing from the third place remedied by Very classic behind Filippo Gana and above all of the winner Mathieu van der Poel, for a three-way match that could be repeated on Sunday (the presence of the Piedmontese is still in doubt), with the addition of many other fearsome protagonists.
Early challenge between Pogacar and Vingegaard?
Among them, due to technical choice and current contingencies, there will not be jonas vingegaard, injured but already always absent from the season Classics. In recent days the highest levels of the Visma-Lease a Bike, in the figure of the sports director Grischa Niermann, they have made it known that the Dane, currently recovering from concussion sustained at Paris-Nice, is not ready to compete, also specifying that he does not have a certain time frame for his return: the German manager himself today, speaking to the microphones of CyclingFlits, adds that the challenge with pogacar could experience a sort of appetizer well before the Tour de France. "We are evaluating this possibility, but we will never send Jonas to a race without conditions: if he will be at the start, he will do it at the top and to try to win". The races that are likely, at this point, are the Dauphiné Tour (actually already planned for some time) or the Tour of Romandie, but some also hint at a twist (and a dramatic turn of events) relating to the Classics, with an appearance at Ardennes: difficult, if not impossible, to review vingegaard al Tour of the Basque Country, the race that last year, with that terrible fall at the beginning of April, started the long physical and psychological ordeal that is still taking its toll.
