Trasacco, March 13, 2025 - The stage 4 of Tirreno-Adriatico 2025 take the group from Norcia a Trasacco after 190 km during which anything goes. It starts with the various escape attempts, the last of which was caught just 400 metres from the finish line, and with Ben Healy to try to join the morning leaders, before the winning sprint started Olav Kooij in the context of an all-Dutch podium completed by Rick Pluimers e Mathieu van der Poel. If yesterday the protagonist was the rain (also on stage today, albeit with less intensity and consistency), in this fraction the Race of the Two Seas is influenced by the strong lateral wind that opens several fans that see in a stubborn Filippo Gana one of the most active men: the Piedmontese, before even sprinting in the final, going to try to close on Van der Poel almost like a dress rehearsal of the Milan-Sanremo, not only keeps the blue jersey, but also tries to strengthen it, earning over a long time 1' on runners like Derek Gee, Simon yates (extremely in difficulty on the Crossing the Crocetta), Mikel Landa e Romain Gregoire, who initially remain in the rear, leaving everything unchanged at the top of the rankings. Whoever loses an eternity, even though fighting for other objectives than the general classification, is jonathan milan, who is still paying the after-effects of yesterday's fall: for the Friulian, an ordeal in the various climbs of the day that also keeps him out of the sprint of the day. For him, and for all the other sprinters, the focus goes directly to the last stage, that of San Benedetto del Tronto, given that in the next two days the Tirreno-Adriatico will see the big names compete for the top positions. stage 5, the Ascoli Piceno-Pergola di 205 km, puts others on the table 3400 meters of unfolding and 3 GPM placed in the final part of a route entirely characterised by ups and downs and steep sections, fertile ground for escapes or for an attempt by the big names in the general classification.

The news

The first climb of the day is that of the Civita Fork (14,3 km with an average slope of 4,1%), on whose ramps it attacks Manuel Tarozzi (VF Group-Bardiani CSF-Faizanè): then they leave Mark Donovan (Q36.5 Pro Cycling Team) and Roger Adrià (Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe), with the first one then losing contact and the second one crossing the top first. A new attack is then formed which includes Valentin Feron (Cofidis), Dries de Bondt (Decathlon AG2R The World Team), Alberto Rui Costa (EF Education-EasyPost), Lucas Hamilton (Ineos Grenadiers), Damien Howson (Q36.5 Pro Cycling Team), Jonah Koch (Red Bull-Bora-Gansgrohe), Gijs Leemreize (Team Picnic PostNL), Mirco Maestri (Team Polti VisitMalta), Rui Oliveira (UAE Team Emirates-XRG) and Fredrik Dversnes (One-X Mobility). This attack doesn't last long either, with the exception of the only Masters e Leemreize: they are added to them Jonas slip (Intermarché-Wanty), Jorge Arcas (Movistar Team) e William Blume Levy (Uno-X Mobility), who will attack on the climb (not marked as a GPM) of Horn Saddle. Instead, it is a GPM in all respects Crossing the Crocetta (12,4 km with an average slope of 5,6%), on which he immediately loses contact jonathan milan (Lidl-Trek), which is still paying the consequences of yesterday's fall. Between the forcing of theUAE Team Emirates XRG before and of Ineos Grenadiers then and the crosswind that opens up some hints of a fan, the escape sees its advantage halved and the group breaks up into four small groups: in the rear remain, among others, Derek Gee (Israel-PremierTech), Mikel Landa, Paul Magnier (Soudal Quick-Step), Simon yates (Visma-Lease a Bike), Magnus Cort Nielsen (Uno-X Mobility) e Romain Gregoire (Groupama-FDJ). Going down the hill is rewarding Masters, while the flying finish line of Ovindoli sees it pass first slide. Surprisingly, in a theoretically calm phase, another fan is forming which sees the protagonists Filippo Gana, Laurens DePlus (Ineos Grenadiers), Juan Ayuso, Felix Grosschartner, Isaac Del Toro (UAE Team Emirates XRG) and Quentin Pacher (Groupama-FDJ). The group of fugitives gets lost on the road slide due to a slide on a curve, while Landa punctures and loses further ground from the second group, the one where there is also YachtsThe two groups then rejoin and rush to hunt down the four leaders, who can count on a lead of a couple of dozen seconds. Arcas accelerates 5 km from the finish line, breaking the harmony between the escapees: behind them instead they attack Ben Healy (EF Education-EasyPost) and then Mathieu van der Poel (Alpecin-Deceuninck). Ganna closes before it restarts Healy, taking advantage of a final slight climb after a steep section 400 meters al 12%. With Irish there are Masters e Levy. Then take a picture Mattia Cattaneo (Soudal Quick-Step), but the usual trio remains in front. With 400 meters to go their action ends and the sprint begins, which rewards Olav Kooij (Visma-Lease a Bike), curiously long detached and in difficulty during this stage.
