Tirreno-Adriatico 2025, stage 6: fraction and blue jersey to Ayuso. The order of arrival
The Spaniard goes all-in on the key day of the Race of the Two Seas: Ganna breaks away but does not drift and, awaiting tomorrow's final act, keeps the podium as does Tiberi, second

Frontignano (Perugia), March 15, 2025 – The stage 6 of Tirreno-Adriatico 2025 bring the race from Cartoceto (Pesaro Urbino) a Frontignano (Perugia) after 163 km: between 2 GPM to climb, including the one leading to the finish line, and 3.400 meters of altitude difference, it is the queen fraction of the Race of the Two Seas, which rewards Juan Ayuso, the most anticipated man who does not disappoint expectations when the road gets steep. Thanks to the Spaniard, but also to the forcing imposed by his UAE Team Emirates XRG (and in particular from the tightrope walker Isaac Del Toro, even capable of arriving not far from his captain), who first goes to resume the escape and then weakens the resistance of his opponents.
The Spaniard takes the stage and the blue jersey in one fell swoop despite the strenuous resistance of Filippo Gana, who loses contact but does not drift, saving the third step of the podium: on the second step there is Antonio Tiberi, which as usual picks up its pace and thus manages not to go off the rails. Surprisingly, therefore, considering the difficult historical moment, the Tirreno-Adriatico he speaks a lot of Italian, if you also think about the cyclamen shirt of jonathan milan, to the green one of Manuel Tarozzi and to the stage victory of Andrea Vendrame, on the run today.
From a Ganna physically fit as never before, the best news is definitely coming, especially in perspective Classics, starting from Milan-Sanremo, scheduled for a week: then it could be the turn of the Paris-Roubaix and, who knows, with a leg like that maybe even Tour of Flanders. Then there are those who like Ayuso, albeit with a very long advance notice, sends signals even in perspective Giro d'Italia 2025, with other runners who instead come out with a nice failure: starting with the twins Adam and Simon Yates, but we also move on to Richard Carapaz, while the same Jay Hindley he already appeared in good shape, as did the eternal Mikel Landa, than at home Soudal Quick Step he has leapfrogged the other captain in the hierarchy Mattia Cattaneo, perhaps more difficult than expected on the climb. The tappa 7, and last but not least, is the Port of Potenza Picena-San Benedetto del Tronto: despite the GPM placed in the first part of the route, the 147 km scheduled to close the 60esima edition of Race of the Two Seas they are expected to be little more than a catwalk for the men in the general classification, but also a tasty opportunity for the sprinters who remained in the group. Ad Ayuso the task of not being surprised and, as they say in these cases, of bringing the bike to the finish line to ensure another success on Italian soil after the one of the last few weeks at Laigueglia Trophy 2025.
The news
The fugitives of the day are Gianni Vermeersch (Alpecin-Deceuninck), Jasper stuyven (Lidl Trek), Magnus Cort Nielsen (Uno-X Mobility), Andrea Pietrobon (Team Polti VisitMalta), Samuele Battistella (EF Education-EasyPost), Andrea Vendrame (Decathlon AG2R The World Team), Benjamin Thomas (Cofidis) e Chris Hamilton (Team Picnic PostNL). After many ups and downs comes the first GPM of the day, that of Crispiero (5,6 km with an average slope of 5% and maximum of 13%), which is already starting to make an initial selection in the group: the climb over the hill instead rewards Pietrobon, while the flying finish line of Pieve Torina sees it pass first Vendrame. The road begins to steepen towards the ascent of The Furnaces (4 km with an average gradient of 5,1%): it is not a GPM, but a preview of what will happen in a few kilometers, when the race will face its key phase. It is in fact the prelude to the climb of Frontignano (Ussita) (7,6 km with an average slope of 7,9% and maximum of 12%): Battistella try to break the ice immediately in front, with Pietrobon e Thomas to pay the price, in addition to the entire margin on a group that is increasingly at everything. From the peloton they lose contact with the green jersey Manuel Tarozzi (VF Group-Bardiani CSF-Faizanè), the blue jersey Filippo Gana, Laurens DePlus (Ineos Grenadiers), Simon yates (Visma-Lease a Bike), Mattia Cattaneo (Soudal Quick-Step) e Nairo Quintana (Movistar Team). Shoot Juan Ayuso (UAE Team Emirates XRG), who brings with him Jay Hindley (Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe), Mikel Landa (Soudal Quic-Step) and tom pidcock (Q36.5 Pro Cycing Team): the Spaniard, now virtual leader of the general classification, tries again and the best are with him, with the exception of Antonio Tiberi (Bahrain Victorious), Ben Healy (EF Education-EasyPost) e Derek Gee (Israel-PremierTech). 3,3 km from the finish line Ayuso he leaves everyone behind and flies towards the double: stage victory and hands on the general classification, despite a Ganna stubborn, who manages to defend the podium, on which, in second place, the other Italian climbs Tiberi.
