Bardet wins and takes the yellow jersey

Bardet manages to win in a thrilling finale. In the final the group manages to nibble away almost the entire lead but in the end the two from DSM manage to secure a sensational victory. Bardet crosses the finish line first but has his whole life to thank Van den broek, who gave decisive help to his teammate. Romain Bardet, French runner, wore the yellow jersey for the first time at the age of thirty-three. A great team success and everyone celebrates this great achievement together.

15:47
The group at 30 seconds

The advantage of the two leading DSM teams, including the Frenchman, is dwindling Bardet who dreams of the yellow jersey. Now the group is 35 seconds away with four km and three hundred meters to go. We are now at the gates of Rimini. Great pathos for a truly top-notch ending.

15:36
15 km to go, couple still in the lead

We are 15 km from the end of the first stage of the Tour. The couple made up of Bardet e Van Den Broek, DSM teammates, is still in the lead and has an advantage of one minute to 16 seconds on the group who meanwhile continue to pedal to try to catch up with the two. The terrible day continues Cavendish, who is currently half an hour behind the two leaders and around twenty-nine minutes behind the group. Bardet now dreams of the yellow jersey. The last Frenchman to wear it was Alaphilippe in 2021. But it's tough for the two in front, because the group is going at a fast pace and at 1 km they're only one minute behind.

15:24
The couple flies Van Den Broek - Bardet

On the San Marino GP they pass first Van Den Broek and Bardet, whose attack, perfectly architected, seems highly effective. You see the situation Ben Healy taken up by the group. So, while the pair in front continues to pedal well, the group is 1 minute and 38 minutes behind. And it could, the conditional is a must, even catch up with the two breakaways. Bettiol is well and is in the top positions of the group.

15:03
Healy and Bardet are the men of the moment

Healy and Bardet are the men of the moment. The first ran away from the group to reach the remaining pursuers. The second had already escaped and took the lead together with teammate Van Den Broek. So you see the situation Bardet e Van Den Broek in the lead, with Healy trailing at 58 seconds. In the meantime, the others who had been part of the initial escape that started from Pontassieve have given up, such as Mohoric and Madouas, the last to give up a short while ago. The group is 1 minute and 44 minutes away Bardet. The situation does not change thirty km from the end. There are 3 km left to the top of the hill from the last climb of the day, then descent and plain towards Rimini. Meanwhile, Visma Lease a Bike was in the group with Wilco Kelderman, who also fell during the stage, taking the lead.

Madouas wins over San Leo

Valentin Madouas (Groupama-FDJ) wins the GPM Colle San Leo when there are less than 50 km to go. Romain Bardet meanwhile he launched an attack that brought him close to the fugitives. Van Den Broek, his teammate, breaks away from the fugitives to help Bardet himself, who is now aiming for the remaining kilometers hoping to land a winning blow.

14:11
Abrahamsen wins the Barbotto GP

Cross the finish line first Jonas Abrahamsen (Uno-X Mobility) on the Barbotto climb, while Izagirre, who had won two so far, collapsed on the climb itself and remained behind. The heat remains the worst opponent. Several riders, although not high ranking, "jumped" onto the ramps of the various climbs. Mark Cavendish he resists but is sixteen minutes away from the escapees. Meanwhile, the group's gap also collapses: the UAE Emirates has started working and now the delay from the leaders is two minutes and thirty-three seconds. The gap then collapsed to under two minutes with 60 km to go and with three more climbs to face. Evenepoel: "I'm aiming for the maximum, without forgetting the Olympics"

Michele Gazzoli's retirement

Not a good day forAstana: Michele Gazzoli, very excited for his Tour to which he was called up two weeks ago, has to abandon due to a physical problem. I therefore retreat, with the Italian ranks thinning. Now there are seven of them. Also considering the critical day of Mark Cavendish, not really a good moment for the blue-celeste team. In the meantime it becomes important again the advantage of fugitives, which reaches up to five minutes. The Ef men, after the action, got up and therefore the fugitives managed to close a significant distance from the group.

Gpm, Izagirre first again

The Gpm of the Carnaio Pass, when there are approximately 106 km left until the end of the stage, with the arrival of Rimini. Izagirre passes first on the mountain grand prix, with the Spaniard therefore taking the second peak of the day and consolidating his position in the standings. It is still losing ground Mark Cavendish, who however is now in good company with other sprinters who are suffering from the slopes.

The advantage of the fugitives drops

Thanks to the action of the Ef of Bettiol the lead of the eight fugitives drops. Now the group is three minutes and thirty minutes away. On the second mountain grand prix of the day, the Forche climb, he wins Jonas Abrahamsen. While in the meantime Mark Cavendish he remains about four minutes from the group and almost eight minutes from the escapees. The Astana sprinter continues with difficulty but for now he holds on, helped by his teammates. Cavendish he tries to resist and then play his cards in the flat stages, where he could overtake Eddy Merckx for victories in the Tour de France.

12:23
Action of the Eph. Black crisis for Cavendish

The situation between the group and the pursuers remains the same, with the group traveling approximately four minutes behind to the eight treads. But in the meantime there is some good action from Bettiol's Ef in the group. The team starts shooting to keep the pace high, with the Italian champion of castelfiorentino at the bottom of the pink train. Meanwhile, problems continue for Mark Cavendish, who travels about three minutes behind the group. He also had some stomach problems. His team, Astana, is all around him to help him.

The escape takes shape

163 km to go. The race is now close to Romagna. The breakaway took shape: at the front they had now acquired a four-minute advantage over the group.  Jonas Abrahamsen (Uno-X Mobility) e Ryan Gibbons (Lidl-Trek) joined the seven on the run, managing to catch up with them after leaving the group. In total the group is therefore made up of nine athletes.
