Rome, 25 April 2025 - On the eve of the departure of the Tour of the Alps 2025 enjoyed the favour of the forecasts, in addition to having announced battle in front of microphones and notebooks: the reality was much harder for Antonio Tiberi, forced to retire during the second stage due to gastrointestinal problems. A setback that, in turn, ends up also modifying the approach pace in view of the Giro d'Italia 2025, departing from Durres the next 9st May.

Tiberi's Change of Plan

In addition to the legitimate ambitions of victory, the usefulness of the Tyrolean race in the plans of the Lazio rider was linked to the improvement of his physical condition and the concrete verification of the same in front of the first climbs of a certain calibre to be tackled in the season. Everything or almost everything fell apart after 55 km of the race of the second stage, curiously in conjunction with a huge fall in a tunnel that at the beginning had raised fears of involvement in the same Tiberi, with related concerns in view of the continuation of the season: instead, fortunately, only nothing Tour of the Alps but also, and here we enter the latest news, no subsequent period at high altitude in a place of your choice (depending on the weather) between Sestriere ed Etna. The new house plans Bahrain Victorious they plan a quick visit to Toscana next week, with the aim of working specifically on the climbs and with particular attention to those changes of pace that seem to be a bit of a weak point of Tiberi when the road gets steep: with the 2001 class there will be the trainer Michele Bartoli and the faithful follower Damian Caruso, one for whom the next Corsa pink It could even be the last one.

Benoot close to Decathlon AG2R La Mondiale Team

The identity card is starting to be harsh, at least from a sporting point of view, even for Tiesj Benoot, which belongs to that old house guard Visma-Lease a Bike which in recent years has made its voice heard in the Classics. Between the generational change in cycling and the problems of various kinds that have been plaguing the Dutch team for two years, the situation has changed a bit and so for the near future it is reasonable to imagine a restyling, with an accompanying rejuvenation of the roster. Among the first suspects to leave is precisely Benoot, which among many very respectable placings also in the Monument reached its peak in 2018, winning the Strade Bianche. The Belgian would be strongly in the sights of the Decathlon AG2R The World Team, to the point that there are those (to be precise the Dutch newspaper Wielerflits) goes so far as to speak of an agreement practically already reached between the parties for the 2026: on the plate for the native of Ghent there would be a two-year contract with economic contours defined as 'extremely generous', with the signature that would be only a matter of time despite the last-minute attempt to insert it Ineos Grenadiers.
