Lienz (Austria), 25 April 2025 - For some, the goal was to refine their physical preparation in view of the ever-closer Giro d'Italia 2025, for someone else instead maybe there was something more at stake, such as the last-minute inclusion in the start list of the Corsa pink, starting from Durres the next 9st May: possible that Michael Storer fell into both categories on the eve of a Tour of the Alps 2025 which saw him as an (almost) absolute dominator.
Race report
In that 'almost' are summarized the 11" that on the eve of the last stage, the one with departure and arrival in Lienz, separated him from Thymen Arensmann: a head to head that the Australian resolved in his favor in the final stage, after having already conquered the green jersey for the first time in the second stage, the one that had led the caravan from mezzolombardo a Vipiteno. The debut of the Tyrolean race had instead been in blue tones, with the return to victory (and the now famous throwing of the glasses, with the accompanying fine and controversy) of Julius Ciccone: who expected a signed tricolour replica Antonio Tiberi, just to stay on the subject of those under special observation in view of the Giro d'Italia 2025, was also disappointed by the onset of gastrointestinal problems which led to an early surrender. He thought about it Marco Frigo to make you smile againItaly with a great victory, the first as a professional, at San Candido, the House of Jannik Sinner. Then you enter in Austria and changes (temporarily) everything: a Obertilliach, on a wolf's day, Arensmann he takes everything, even sending a message to his Ineos Grenadiers, desperately hunting for runners ready to be protagonists of the Grand ToursThe sharp remains, but the symbol of primacy does not, which takes the path of Store in the last act, that is, Lienz: instead, the one who took home the partial success was Nicolas Prodhomme, which makes the happy France along with the rising star Paul Seixas, 18enne which, as they say, we will hear about and which takes the title of authentic revelation of Tyrolean running.
Storer's statements
In the meantime they're partying Store and its Tudor Pro Cycling Team, which seems to best celebrate the invitation received from Giro d'Italia via a precious wild card. "I am extremely satisfied with this week of racing. I must admit that I would have preferred, if we had the choice, to have had a less complicated race, considering that I had to attack every day to be able to achieve this success. Today, however, the team was literally incredible, we were like a perfectly oiled machine and we didn't make a single wrong move and for this I have to thank every single member of the team". For the Australian, the focus now shifts to the Corsa pink. "This success also allows me to look to the next appointments with more confidence. I'm fine and I hope to be able to carry this condition also to the Giro d'Italia".
