Rome, 15 February 2025 - Rumours circulate and often reach the ears of the protagonist of the same: this is the case of the one that sees Marco Villa in pole position to become the new coach of theItaly on the road. An indiscretion that was reported to the microphones of the program 'Race Radio', broadcast on the channels Rai, commented the current head of the Italian track, who did not hide a certain skepticism about it.

Villa's statements

"I would actually like to continue with the track. I have always collaborated with the road and I will continue to do so, but this is my intention. Obviously, however, the final decision will be up to the president. Cordiano Dagnoni and to the team manager Robert Amadio, who are trying to build a sector that also interfaces with others". In short, Villa it's clear: to the Federcycling, fresh from the renewal of its most important position, actually confirmed in the figure of Dagnoni, the task of listening to these words, perhaps veering towards another more enthusiastic profile, or possibly continuing to beat this trail (it is really the case to say so). In the waltz being examined to try to give new life to the Italian cycling, several other boxes would change: Marco Velo (currently a time trial technician) would become responsible for the women's sector, while the track would be Dino Savoldi for the male and Diego Bragato for the feminine, while Ivan Quaranta would remain in command of the speed sector. A domino effect that will however start only after having occupied the most important and delicate position, that of the coach of theItaly on the men's road: the current regent's failure to be confirmed has been confirmed Daniele bennati, not without surprises compared to what seemed to be the trend initially desired by the highest levels of the Federcycling, and the almost definitive fading of the trail that led to Elia Viviani, still under discussion for his future between bike and retirement, things are getting complicated now that the number one candidate seems to have turned down the offer.

Poels' statements

Meanwhile, among the new faces of theXDS Astana Team there Wout poels, which to the microphones of WielefFlits he shared his first impressions of this new adventure. "I'm happy that I was able to make a good impression on the Tour of Oman (where he finished seventh in the general classification, ed.). It takes a bit of time to settle in, but everything is going well: everyone is friendly also because, I must say, you can feel the Italian culture more than the Kazakh one. I knew I would have to change teams at the end of the year and I am happy to have landed in a team that has to fight to maintain its category: it will be tough, but also stimulating". About Italy: the Dutch immediately indicates in Giro 2025 his big seasonal goal. "It was a shame what happened last year: I concentrated on that race and at the last minute they took me out of the selection. I was surprised but at least then I went to the Tour de FranceThis year I want to do the Giro d'Italia and I have great hopes about it. Precisely because of the ranking issue, we will have to think about victories but also about placings and, in general, think about strategy".
