Master Athletics, Romanelli from Monsummano and the Dream World Championships

Monsummano Terme (Pistoia), 8 April 2025 – An unforgettable world championship participation. Dream World Masters Champions for the Monsummanese Andrea Romanelli. The Italian champion, member of the Track and Field Master Grosseto and co-owner of the trattoria restaurant Ancient Valdinievole from Romanelli, won 2 individual bronze medals, in the 3km and 10km walk, and a team gold medal in the 10km walk in the M35 category ahead of the hosts from the United States, Gainesville in Florida, the venue for the competition.

Remarkable performances, those of the athlete from Valdinievole, who was able to compete against rivals who boast participations in Olympics and World Championships in his curriculum. “They were priceless emotions – he exults Romanelli –. I came to the USA with the desire to do well, but to reach this high is fantastic. I dedicate these races first of all to my mother, Ileana Ispas, and to my brother Giorgio, which allow me to train and travel the world for my passion for sport, while keeping the family business open: without them I wouldn't have been able to do any of this.

I thank the Track and Field Master Grosseto of the possibility of being able to compete in these races, because without his approval I would not have been able to go to Florida, and in particular the president Ernesto Croci and the coach Alessandro Volpi. Thanks also to all those who follow me with sympathy from Monsummano and from the whole province of Pistoia: I wanted these results also to bring high the name of the Valdinievole and the province of Pistoia. I really hope to be able to continue for a long time, improving my performance through training. I am really satisfied with what I have managed to achieve in a short time. But don’t rest on your laurels. We are off again for new adventures”.
