One gold, one silver and four bronzes. This is the more than honourable balance of the patrol of St. Stephen Sports ai Italian Paralympic Athletics Championships indoor and the winter throwing championship, which were held at the Pala Casali and the adjacent Campo Italico Conti in Ancona. Three athletes were fielded, all in throwing, by the historic sports association of Porto Potenza, engaged in eight competitions.
Fabio Staffolani conquers the highest step of the podium in the discus throw, to which he adds a third place in the shot put. Silver in the discus and bronze in the javelin for John Iacono, a former world record holder, who returns to compete for the black and green colours with which he began his competitive career in 1978 and who won the title of longest-serving athlete in the competition.
She recorded two significant third places, in the women's discus and javelin, Agnieszka Ciesla. Ultimately, the Santo Stefano athletes climbed onto the podium six times.
Satisfaction was expressed by Luisa Pocognoli, technical manager of Santo Stefano Sport: "A first overall positive season that gives us hope for the continuation of the competitive activity. The next commitment will be the regional qualifying phase for the Italian absolute championships". The journey has thus started off on the right foot in a season full of commitments.
