VIAREGGIO – Keeping hope alive in anticipation of the return match. This is what Gb Mec Cgc Viareggio had to do and this is what they did, in light of the final 3-3 that leaves very positive signals in anticipation of the replay scheduled for Sunday at 18. Cgc and Sarzana gave life to an enjoyable match, with a high pace and substantially balanced, in front of a large and warm crowd. Positive performance overall by the black and whites, with Luca Lombardi on the shields and author of a valuable brace, with two shots that will remain in the memory of many.
The match begins with an attempt by Rosi and two forays by Mura, but Corona always proves to be on the ball. Gomez also does the same on Borsi's attempt. It takes an individual play to break the initial balance. A play that arrives with De Rinaldis who fools the Argentine goalkeeper with a diagonal from distance. However, CGC does not get depressed and on the Lombardi-Muglia axis the equaliser is served. A lash from the centre of the pitch by the former and a touch, like a true bomber, by the latter for 1-1. During the central phase of the fraction a substantial balance reigns, until D'Anna is brought down in the area by Manrique. It is a penalty but Cinquini, with power, only makes the crossbar tremble. There are about 10' to go and not much else happens until 184" from the siren, when Xavi Rubio lifts the ball for Ortiz who fools Gomez on the fly for 2-1 for Liguria.
The start of the second half is sparkling and in black and white. Just 6" and Lombardi scores the 2-2 from his own half of the pitch. After a poisonous diagonal from Muglia, Lombardi is once again the firecracker to excite the PalaBarsacchi with another shot, again from his own half of the pitch, which is worth the overtaking of Viareggio. Gomez bravely blocks Ortiz, but he can do nothing about the young Tognacca who takes advantage of a defensive lapse by Cgc.
There are 10 minutes left, but after so many emotions the pace slows down. Cgc tries but Gomez saves the result on Ortiz with 4' and 51" to go. It ends in a draw and Sarzana will only need to draw to reach the quarter-finals, against Canniccia Motor Club Forte. For this Cgc, however, the feat does not seem impossible at all. "Great performance by the boys, everything is still open", is the hot comment of ds Nicola Palagi.
