"Captains" written by Gianfelice Facchetti won the fourth edition of the “Sandro Ciotti Award“ of sports literature, conceived by Filippo Grassia and organized by Panathlon Club Milan. The award ceremony took place at the University of Milan, celebrating a work that explores the role of the great captains of football, iconic figures capable of transcending the playing field to become symbols of integrity and inspiration. Captains of any kind are indeed Myths, Examples, Symbols, those points of reference that seem to no longer exist, everywhere, and in football in particular. The "Flags" of the past that we would so much like to see fly". Facchetti offers us a splendid and nostalgic overview, from his father Giacinto to Armando Picchi, and then the Maldini dynasty (Cesare and Paolo) and many others.
