The geography of our home handball could surprisingly change in the next few hours. Pallamano Carpi is in fact evaluating whether to self-declassify from Serie A Silver – where the derby with the newly promoted Pantarei Italia Modena would return – to Serie B, the regional level that after the reform launched by the FIGH is the third and last behind Serie A Gold and Silver of the championships in Italy. The deadline for registration for Serie A Silver is Monday 30 June, while for B there is time until 15 September. A decision that the board of the company led by president Fania Ferrari will make in these ten days after a careful evaluation of the sustainability of the category. It was precisely from Serie B – where Rapid Nonantola, Carpine, Ravarino and the second team of Modena will be starting – that the reborn black and white company started again in 2019 from the ashes of the bankruptcy of the old Handball Carpi, which in previous years had also reached two championship semifinals, climbing up to A Gold with two promotions. A decision that could obviously also affect the relationship with Mattia Melis, announced as the new coach a few weeks ago.

As for the market, everything is on hold and the definition of the roster will revolve around this decision. Pallamano Carpi had already released 5 players in the past weeks: after 3 years they had said goodbye to the captain Lorenzo Nocelli who returned to Cingoli, then the goalkeepers Alex Martini (also ended up in Cingoli) and Tomas Villarroel, then Adel El Sabbagh and Juan Manuel Bendini. In the past few days Gabriele Leonesi also said goodbye to Casalgrande, but in the event of B the diaspora might not be over. At the moment the list of confirmed players remains with the two "flags" Samuele Serafini and Sebastian Carabulea in addition to Ottavio Zuppiroli, Gregorio Mazzanti, Filippo Gollini, Nicola Vastano, Mattia Bandini, Oussama Ben Hadj Ali, Mohammad Uzair and Vladimir Quaranta.
