Pistoia-Abetone 2025: 50km Ultramarathon with challenges and innovations
The 48th edition of the Pistoia-Abetone will be held on June 29, 2025 with a 50 km route and new initiatives.

This year too, the Pistoia-Abetone will be one of the key events in the national running calendar. The organizational machine of theAsd Silvano Fedi is already working together with the promotion committee, chaired by the Province of Pistoia, to prepare the race that will take place on Sunday 29 June. The 2025 edition will be the 48th edition of theultramarathon which attracts many people every year athletes of international value thanks also to the challenging percorso uphill, with a total length of 31 kilometres, and to the suggestive finish line located at theAbetone at the height of the 50 kilometer race.
This year's new features include three conferences in the run-up to the race, held in collaboration with the Centro Elledi Fisioterapia, which will be held in the Coop members' room on Viale Adua on April 17, May 23 and June 12 at 18:30 p.m. There will also be two side events, namely the 6-hour "UltraGreen Marathon" on Saturday, May 3 at the GEA park in Pistoia, on a 1172-meter course with an intermediate finish line at the 21st km, as well as the Trail del Montanaro in San Marcello Pistoiese, scheduled for Sunday, May 11 with two competitive courses of 50 and 25 km and a 12 km fitwalking.
During the race weekend, there will also be space for lovers of walking with the Free Walking San Marcello - Abetone, in practice the last 20 km of the event, to be done at a free pace, but also for hikers with the trek from Portafranca to Abetone. For athletes with disabilities, the now usual appointment with the "Quarto Traguardo" returns, a walk starting from the Le Regine locality lasting three kilometers.
As for the route of the Pistoia-Abetone, the start is set for 7.30 from Piazza Duomo, with the first climb that will lead to Piastre at km 14, after a beautiful and treacherous climb of about 9 km. Then the Reno valley, to reach Pontepetri and then Campotizzoro and Maresca (23rd km), with the road that will go up towards Monte Oppio to reach Gavinana (26th km), before the descent towards San Marcello Pistoiese, where the intermediate finish line will be placed at the 30th km. Further descent towards Mammiano and La Lima (33rd km) and finally the most important test: the last 17 km practically all uphill towards theAbetone.
