Nestola in Bolzano, Bouih in Rome
The year ends today, but if the majority of sporting disciplines are taking a rest for the Christmas holidays, not so is running which on New Year's Eve features two important races, one historic by tradition, the other important because we run in the capital.
The "Boclassic" is held in Bolzano, an ultra-competitive race now in its 49th edition, with a limited number of participants with only 27 male athletes (on km 10 at 14pm) and 15 women (on km 5 at 13,30pm). Among the girls, together with the Italian Nadia Battocletti and two Kenyans, we find Sara Nestola (photo), the 22 year old Corradini athlete, coached by Stefano Baldini, who concludes a golden year. Baldini himself has run this race several times, without ever managing to win, but today he won't be able to do so even with his pupils who among the girls also include Ludovica Cavalli and Rebecca Lonedo. Among the men, Pietro Riva will start, again coached by the Olympic champion from Rubiere. Live broadcast scheduled on Rai Sport.
In the capital, however, the We Run Rome starts at 14pm, on an undulating 10km route. Among the most accredited Italians we find Yassin Bouih, the standard bearer of the Fiamme Gialle trained by Vehid Gutic. Among the strongest Italians at the start, the expert Daniele Meucci, Pasquale Selvarolo and Daniele D'Onofrio. There is no shortage of African athletes. For Bouih this is the last test before the race on January 14th in Seville. Then on the 16th he will leave for a preparatory retreat in Kenya.
