In yesterday's edition we had headlined that Merling he was expected to redeem himself in Giorgio Giannessi Award, center test of the reunion of ran gallop a San Rossore. And so it was. The grey, well interpreted by Dario Di Tocco, won by beating the Dormellian Sansovia. Seven 3-year-old horses at the start after Poschi's retirement over the 1500 meters with Merlengo the clear favorite who, as mentioned, did not disappoint. The race was dedicated to a trainer from the past, born and raised in Barbaricina. In the afternoon another race bore the name of another very well-known figure in the world of horse racing who held numerous roles: that of handicapper, commissioner, director of racing companies. The name is that of Mauro Montersoli to whom Alfea dedicated the handicap over the 1500 for 4-year-olds and over. Eight horses at the start and the forecast was oriented towards Meran who however only finished fourth behind She (S. Sulas), Favorito, Fair Angel. Worth noting at the start of the afternoon was the success, in the amateur race over the distance of 1500, of the favorite outsider Ancora Drago ridden by the young rider Alessia Nuti who set the favorite lead race without errors in pace. The race was dedicated to Mario Argenton, a rider who was able to win 168 races in years now gone by, 112 of which were over hurdles. The other races were won by Mene Cratide (G. Marcelli), Conquering Eagle (N. Pinna), Mercurio Go (G. Gungui). Racing returns on Sunday with a top afternoon in which the 29th Barbaricina prize, Main Handicap Csui 1750 meters, and the 34th Enirco Camici prize, Main Handicap B over 1200 meters are scheduled. The afternoon ends with the Filippo Mazzei and Nova Estintori club awards and the race reserved for Gr and female riders, the Pier Vittorio Zaini award, 1750 metres, a race whose winners, like every year, will be showered with sweets.
