Sara Nestola wins overall title in 10.000 meters in Cosenza

Winning has become a habit for her. In 2024 she swept away everything in Italy for the Promises category (under 23) and now that she has become a senior she wants to continue. In Cosenza, Sara Nestola, the almost 24 year old standard-bearer of the Corradini Rubiera coached by Stefano Baldini, won the overall title on 10.000 meters on the track, the second in her career "among the greats", after the half marathon. "Well, come on, maybe not very well - says Sara - but I think I felt the effects of the half marathon of the European Championships held in Belgium where I had strong emotions. I finished in 33'10''72, not far from my record, behind the Burundian Elvanie Nimbona, who however was only competing for the Clubs, as she is not Italian".

How did the race develop? "Soon it was just the two of us: I tried to keep a constant pace, and when she took over from me she would go in fits and starts. In the final she pulled away, but I was only thinking about the Italian title."

In sight there is the blue, with a doubt..."If we talk about the European Cup May 24th in Pacé, I will be there for sure. marathon world championships I'm something else. Three Italians and a hundred athletes from all over the world will go. Today I have the fourth time among the Italians, behind Yaremchuk, Epis and Lonedo, but the world championships are in September, anything can happen. Lonedo and I are friends, she has the best time, I beat her in the direct clashes: anyway, it's either me or her, if they don't put a reserve".

When will we know? "I think that within next week there will be federal choices."

Lonedo, among other things, is trained in Rubiera by Stefano Baldini, as is Francesco Guerra who won the 10.000m race in Cosenza.
