After the team gold at the European Championship, the call-up for the athlete of the Circolo. Ravennate della Spada.

The blue team Cadets, Francesco Delfino is the second from the left. With him, the standard-bearers of the Circolo Forlivese, Magni and Sonnessa, have been called up
A winning team is difficult to change. This is what the Fencing Federation at the time of the call-ups to the blue jersey for the Cadet and Youth World Championships which will be held from 7th to 15th April in Wuxi, in China. The commissioners of arms, Dario Chiadò for the sword, have focused on continuity with respect to the excellent European Youth Championship played less than a month ago in Antalya, Turkey. Thus the three Romagnoli have been called up again, Francesco Delfino, for the Circolo Ravennate della Spada and the two standard-bearers of the Circolo Schermistico Forlivese, Riccardo Magni e Nicholas Sonnessa: the latter had obtained the silver while Delfino had obtained the bronze, but all together – with Del Prete from Campania – they had won a fantastic team gold for Italy. Unfortunately, among the Under 17s, the three called up will participate only as individuals because the team event is not foreseen for the Epee Cadets and they will not be able to assert the strength of the gold won in Turkey where they have shown that they have very few rivals.
Naturally, an excellent result for the Circolo Ravennate della Spada, one of the thirty-two clubs – including military corps – out of forty total called up between Cadets and Youth. Speaking of Youth, among those called up, again for the blue team of the Spada, also the Cervia Matteo Galassi (class of 2005), who grew up in the Circolo della Spada Cervia but is now registered with the Cs Carabinieri. The two from Ravenna will compete in the last three days of competition: Francesco Delfino on April 14th while Matthew Galassi will take to the stage the day before for the individual event and the following day for the team event to represent Italy. Acting as a mother hen for the young fencers, an exceptional head of delegation, namely Valentina Vezzali, one of the most successful athletes in the history of world fencing.
