Van Vleuten wins the second stage of the women's Giro d'Italia: 102 km from Bagno a Ripoli to Marradi. Sofia Collinelli, the only Ravenna rider in the Giro, is 150th, 13'45" behind the winner.
Partly retracing the Cento Chilometri del Passatore, the second stage of the women's Giro d'Italia, it starts from Bagno a Ripoli to end after just under 102 kilometers in Marradi. After a long initial breakaway, what is in fact the decisive action begins on the Colla pass: a couple of kilometers from the summit the world champion - and winner of the last Giro d'Italia - the Dutch Van Vleuten who clears the air behind him by managing to win the stage, in fact the first race really, after the cancellation of the prologue time trial, in 2 hours 39'56''. At 45'' the first group arrives with the Italian champion Longo Borghini. The only person from Ravenna taking part in the Giro, Sofia Collinelli (Israel Premier Tech Roland): in the end she was 150th, 13'45 behind the winner.
