It's a sweet defeat for La T Tecnica Gema Montecatini, beaten again by General Contractor Jesi by 70-76: the thermal "lions" close the regular season without ever having beaten the team from Marche but still celebrate the third final place thanks to the gift of the "cousins" Herons, who at the PalaTagliate impose the "halt" on Luiss Roma. In the quarterfinals it will be a challenge with Mestre, sixth in the other group.

Del Re opts for an unusual "low" quintet and the Burini-Savoldelli double play. The Marche team starts better, also due to the demerits of the Terme defense that concedes 11 points in less than 4 minutes. T Gema is supported by the Savoldelli-Bedin axis, Passoni's triple of 14-13 gives illusions because then two consecutive ones arrive from the other side, for an overall 8-0 partial that launches Jesi (14-21). With patience the "lions" sew up to 18-22 with which the first fraction ends, but what worries Del Re is the difference in effectiveness from behind the arc of his team (1/9, against the 4/8 of Jesi), Di Emidio underlines it by scoring the triple of the +9 of the guests. And when the Marche team's powder gets wet, it's the too many free throws conceded by the home team, confirming a dull evening: at the end of the quarter Ghizzinardi's men reach +12, before an undaunted Toscano makes the gap at the long interval less worrying (34-43).

No big deal for Jesi, because Del Re's team returns to the court with an even more submissive attitude if possible and in a flash Petrucci and his teammates find themselves ahead by 15 points. Two consecutive "bombs" revive the Terme team, who despite various attempts are unable to blunt the disadvantage much. Also to blame are the percentages that are more than deficient with the clock stopped. This does not prevent La T Gema from getting back to -8 with the ball in hand at the end of the quarter and from cursing a couple of triples by Savoldelli that go in and out. The gap widens again in favor of General Contractor at the dawn of the last quarter: Berra's semi-hook is worth 53-65, but then something in the Jesi mechanism jams and at the same time Burini and Stanic take the stage, and it is the Argentine who scores the free throws for -4. Ghizzinardi is furious but soon after his anger turns into joy, because after the outside errors by Toscano and Stanic, Zucca guesses the basket that decides the match.
