Virtus Imola faces Capo d'Orlando for access to the play-in, while president Fiumi evaluates the future of the club.
All in a few days. First of all, the competitive commitment that the Virtus Imola will support Sunday at Capo d'Orlando, by winning in Sicily the yellow and blacks would practically gain access to the play in. Then an even more important commitment, but this time at corporate level with the president David Rivers (pictured right with coach Gianluigi Galetti) who should pass the baton.
This last aspect should happen at the end of the championship and the deadline will be written based on the commitments that Virtus will still be able to have in this last part of the season. Fiumi is an entrepreneur with many things to manage, who has a growing company to follow, and he has never hidden that his was a temporary commitment to be developed over the course of three seasons at most. Almost two have passed and the exit could come sooner than expected, but which has still seen Virtus grow from many points of view. A path still in progress, now the priority is the field and the conquest of a new objective, as soon as the bowls are stopped the president will decide one way or another. In recent years there has been no shortage of changes in the corporate structure with new entries and distribution of shares, Fiumi could decide to leave the president's seat, give up part of the shares and still remain in the club.
But at the same time consider his journey with Virtus closed, remaining only a fan. In these years of National B series, V Imolese has become in its own way, also thanks to Davide Fiumi, an important reality for organization at a sporting level. Once the season is over, we will move towards a change of president, and most likely the entry of a new name who can take over from Fiumi. The timing will depend on how much Galetti and his men will be able to extend the 2024/2025 competitive season.
For now the only certainty is Sunday's game in Capo d'Orlando where we can put an exclamation point on this regular season. By winning, Neupharma Virtus would have access to the play-in and the possibility of playing for a place in the promotion play-offs. But in Sicily the yellow and blacks will find one of the best teams in the championship, potentially a candidate for a return to Serie A2. Virtus will play it all, two points to avoid closing the year after only the regular season. Two points to hope and give another satisfaction to a president who could soon leave his place as number to someone else.
