And then we have given faith to many young people". Maceratese finished with 65 points, also considering the 6 obtained against Fano who were then eliminated from the tournament. "Last year Civitanovese was promoted with 59 points, this year 65 were not enough because K Sport played an equally exciting tournament". In a season there are those decisive moments, which lead to thinking big. "I think it was when we secured Luca Cognigni, a striker who made the difference in many ways, on and off the pitch, as a leader. When he signed I thought we were doing a good job". A job that started from scratch, or almost, considering that few remained from the previous year. "Making a clean slate was a necessity when at the first meeting a player from last year asked for a raise despite having had a less than brilliant season. There I understood that we had to change, we confirmed those 2-3 guys who showed a great desire to stay. We wanted players who chose Maceratese and not vice versa". Then there was the construction of the squad. "We chose young and quality players because that is what the game of the coach identified for Maceratese required". It was a team effort.
