SERRAVALLE PISTOIESE – Real Cerretese fails in its first match to return to Eccellenza after twenty years, failing to go beyond a goalless draw on the pitch of a Casalguidi team that is not yet safe. No big deal because the party could have only been postponed by a week, or even less. If San Giuliano, second in the standings at eight points with two days left to play, were not to win the recovery match next Wednesday in Forte dei Marmi, the 'Medici' would have mathematically won Group A of Promozione even before taking to the field next Sunday at the Palatresi against Monsummano.
If San Giuliano were to take home the three points from the away game in Versilia, then Mister Petroni's boys will have to win the derby in seven days to ensure the jump in category or, in any case, get the same result as San Giuliano. Returning to the match in Serravalle Pistoiese against the 'canaries', it was not a memorable encounter, due both to the high stakes and the terrible conditions of the pitch.
The scoreless result in fact faithfully reflects what was seen on the pitch, with the two teams facing each other mainly in midfield. Few noteworthy actions, many subsequent scrums with set pieces, but practically no chances. The only better chance to break the deadlock was however had by Real Cerretese, without the suspended Bouhafa, with Nieri, but they were unable to convert it. For Real Cerretese, however, it is the sixth consecutive useful result with just one goal conceded.
