Mission accomplished. Pistoiese conquers the Garilli by beating Piacenza 0-1 thanks to an own goal at the beginning of the match and, in light of Tau's draw with Progresso, takes third place in the standings overtaking the Amaranto. All this on a Sunday that could have been crucial for the balance of the championship, with Forlì's success over Ravenna that projected the red and whites to plus five.
The orange team won by dominating from start to finish, playing great football and probably showing the best performance of Villa's management. The only thing missing was the "only" goal to double the lead, with the Dutchwoman capable of creating at least six clear scoring opportunities but never finding the 0-2 that would have ended the match early. No big deal though, because the defense did its job, allowing Piacenza just two chances in ninety minutes. Bertolo and his teammates can therefore enjoy the three points and the fifteenth clean sheet of the season, with Pistoiese now also the best defense of the group with 17 goals conceded, equal to Forlì.
Moving on to the story of the match, the oranges broke the deadlock after eight minutes, when Zucchini deflected Kharmoud's cross into his own net. The same number seven missed the second goal in the 24th minute, while a minute later Mazzei hit the crossbar from a sidereal distance. The second half also saw the guests in control and very close to a second goal after 120 seconds with a shot from Basanisi, while in the 4th minute the first real chance came from the locals, but Cecchini responded on Recino. The minutes passed and Pistoiese came close to scoring a second goal on several occasions, but first Pinzauti, then Simeri and finally Greselin failed to impress the necessary precision on the ball. No worries in the final stages, however, with the oranges able to rejoice at the final whistle under the fanfare of the supporters who had arrived from Pistoia.
