Pistoiese spectators at Forlì's promotion party: falls 1-0 in Romagna

Forlì, 17 April 2025 – The Pistoiese attends the festival as a non-paying spectator Forlì, who by beating the oranges 1-0 thanks to a goal by Petrelli mathematically achieved promotion to Serie C. Third consecutive defeat, however, for the men trained by Alberto Villa, in the third-last day of group D of the Serie D championship. With this umpteenth stop, the Pistoiese slips to fifth place in the standings with 58 points, the last position useful for taking part in the playoffs, -23 points from the leaders Forlì (just to give you an idea).

Il Forlì played like a cat with a mouse, letting the Tuscans vent and then hitting them at the first opportunity. The first half of the game started with Pistoiese making the game and Forlì defending, cautious. As the minutes passed, however, the home team grew and, at the first real goal opportunity, they didn't miss. As top of the class (with great merit). At 9' a free kick by Maldonado, the hosts save with a corner kick.

At 20' Basanisi wastes, one-on-one with the goalkeeper, a splendid orange counterattack. At 31' persistent maneuver of the red and whites of Romagna, with gaiola which engages the orange goalkeeper Cecchini. At 41' a sensational indecision by the guest defence and Forlì ruthless: Elia Petrelli scores into an empty net, to the delight of the many local fans. The second half sees Forlì increase the intensity of their play and the Pistoiese to retreat backwards, occasionally coming out on the counterattack.

at 10' Cecchini saves in a desperate exit on Farinelli launched towards the goal. At 18' Petrelli's shot, Cecchini blocks with his feet. At 23' Pistoiese's buzz, with Sparacello. Then, Forlì in control and at the end it's a big party. For the Pistoiese, there will be a lot to think about.
