Orio al Serio (Bergamo) - The former cyclist Romans Vainsteins, in the 2000 World Champion in Plouay, France, it was arrested at the Bergamo airport of Orio al Serio, where he had just landed from Line, capital of Latvia.

The man, a 52-year-old Latvian, must serve 4 months for violation of family support obligations and, at the end of the ritual formalities, he was accompanied to the prison of Bergamo. The arrest of the former athlete was carried out by the Carabinieri of the provincial command of Lecco, city where Vainsteins lived for several years. 

The former cyclist was ended up on trial after complaint presented in 2012 by theex wife, also Latvian. According to the prosecution, Vainsteins after the separation would not have paid the food to the daughter who, with her mother, continued to live in the Lecco area where the cyclist had moved.
