Capannori will be the starting point of the seventh stage of the Giro-"E" (with pedal-assisted bikes) that will arrive in Pisa. The appointment is set for May 20. The Giro-"E" is organized by RCS Sport and included as a cycling tourism event in the calendar of the Italian Cycling Federation. A unique "exclusive e-bike experience". The starting stages are always different from those of the Giro d'Italia, while the arrival coincides, with the only difference that the Giro-"E" arrives on site a few hours before the pink caravan.
The seventh stage, created thanks to the collaboration of the Municipality and local cycling groups (Gragnano Sporting Club, SC Michela Fanini, GS Capannori and Gruppo Sportivo Cicli Carube), will start from Piazza Moro, in front of the town hall, about an hour before the departure of the first participant in the time trial; and, after 30 kilometers, it will arrive in Pisa. The 17 teams that participate in the entire route and some Daily Teams (locals) will compete. The teams are made up of 6 participants, 5 guests and a captain who, riding pedal-assisted racing bicycles, will reach Piazza del Duomo, in Pisa. Each team will go up on the stage set up in Piazza Moro for the presentation, where greetings from the authorities are also planned.
The arrival of the stage will take place, as mentioned, before the finish line of the Giro d'Italia, but under the same arch and the awards ceremony will be on the same podium as the professionals. "It is an event - explains the Sports Councillor, Gaetano Ceccarelli - that perfectly integrates the values of technological innovation and sustainability; a vision of attention to the environment and the enhancement of the territory, themes very dear to Capannori. For this reason we have very willingly given all our collaboration".
