Cycling, the “Eroica Juniores 2025” stage race cancelled

Siena, March 5, 2025 – The probable cancellation was discussed last Sunday in Cerbaia di Lamporecchio on the occasion of the Gran Premio Giuliano Baronti. Today the confirmation arrived that “Eroica Junior, the Nations Cup race scheduled for April 16-19 has been cancelled. The president of the Eroica Italia organizing company, Franco Rossi, announced this in a letter to the UCI (International Cycling Union) and the teams that were supposed to be present. The reasons are mainly economic. “The required level of quality requires significant economic resources that are not easy to find. Our operational machine has continued up to now, despite the uncertainties, dedicating itself daily to organizational work, but with just a few weeks to the event, we must bitterly note that we do not have the conditions to guarantee our event the necessary standard. We would also like to thank here – continues the press release – all the institutions and companies that believed in the project and gave us their support. Eroica’s daily work in the area will certainly repay their trust. We bid the teams farewell and take this opportunity to renew the invitation to participate in the Siena-Montalcino–Coppa Andrea Meneghelli, which will take place regularly on Saturday 17 May”. A bitter decision that the entire Organizing Committee had to make but in the absence of economic certainties it was preferred to say enough for this year.
