All ready for the Trophy Alfredo Binda and Alfredo Binda Small Trophy - Municipality of Cittiglio, one of the most anticipated events in the international women's road calendar. On Sunday the streets of Varese will be invaded by the best expression of the category elite women e juniors which will be competed on the circuit of the Verbano and Olona Valleys.
Brianza will be present with the Besanese Cristina Tonetti (Liboral Kutxa Fundacion Euskadi) returning from the Strade Bianche in Siena. For its part, the BePink Imatra Bongioanni of Monza will field a team composed of Irene Cagnazzo, Linda Laporta, Silvia Milesi, Gaia Segato, Elisa Valtulini and the German Aileen Schweikart. The Seregno native Maria Giulia Confalonieri (Uno X Mobility) will not be there, having opted for the Belgian race of Nokere and the Milan-Sanremo scheduled for next week. The other Seregno native Maria Alice Arzuffi (Liboral Kutxa Fundacion Euskadi) will be forced to withdraw, victim of a fall at the Strade Bianche where she suffered a fracture of the metacarpal of her right hand. A real shame for the two cousins from Seregno who we will surely find again later this season.
Eyes especially on the Monza girls of team manager Walter Zini who will try to bring home a good placing. A difficult but not impossible feat given the quality of the participants led by the winner of the last edition Elisa Balsam, from the Italian champion Elisa Longo Borghini, from the Dutch Demi Vollering fresh from the triumph at the Strade Bianche, and big favourite, and from the Swiss Marlene ReusserThe Elite race will be preceded by the race reserved for the junior women category (17-18 years) and representing Brianza will be Giulia Costa Staricco from Besano who this year is competing for the colours of the Piacenza-based BTF Burzoni VO2 Team Pink.
