Cycling, after 50 years a cycling race returns to pass through Artimino

Prato, 23 March 2025 - The Prato organizers of Galciana of the 5th Memorial Maurizio Bresci-Piccola Liegi, a national race for elites and under 23s, are used to reserving novelties with the route of their race, which recalls a young cycling enthusiast who loved the classic monuments that are run in spring in northern Europe. They confirm this also for the race scheduled in Galciana on Sunday 18 May with a challenging and difficult route and which brings (apart from the historic La Medicea) after 50 years competitive cycling to the ancient village of Artimino, which was interested in the seventies by the Gp di Montelupo Fiorentino professionals. The organizers Dabizzi, Giordani, Gabbricci, Bindi with the race director Rampogni, have viewed the route, finally deciding on a wide-ranging circuit of 53 km to be repeated three times for a total of 159 kilometers. Departure and arrival in via Lastruccia in Galciana, and after an initial stretch on the plain there will be the climb of Seano, then from Comeana the climb towards Artimino, descent on Poggio a Caiano to climb again towards Carmignano (side of via Granaio or La Corta) and return to Galciana. All three times, and there is no doubt that on paper the selection should not be missing. The technical organization of the Memorial Maurizio Bresci-Piccola Liegi, is entrusted to Moto Guzzi Prato, an always active association.
