A group of runners from the Elite and Under 23 team of Pistoiese Arcadia, among which Leonardo Galigani from Bottegone performed well
A good start to the season for the Pistoia society and athletes of the Elite Under 23 and Junior categories. This is the first partial assessment a week after the start of the activity also for the youth categories (Esordienti and Allievi) scheduled for Sunday 23 March in Monte San Quirico in the province of Lucca. In the Florence-Empoli the good performance of the Pistoia native of Bottegone, Leonardo Galigani of Pistoia Arcadia long in the lead and arrived tenth at the end of the classic national opening of the year. Remaining in the Elite and Under 23, the other result to remember and always by the same team, is the ninth place of the Colombian Alejandro David Hernandez Camargo in Civitanova Marche.
In the Junior category, in the opening race, the Gran Premio Giuliano Baronti in Cerbaia di Lamporecchio, eighth place on debut in the category for Luciano Gaggioli exponent of the Monsummanese sports club after an appreciable final race. In the same race which had a great success in terms of participation of athletes and public, ninth place for Giuseppe Sciarra of the Team Cesaro Franco Ballerini who obtained the same result last Sunday on the Circuito degli Assi in Calenzano in the Paolo Baicchi Memorial. For the Pistoia team this last competition was not a happy one, as Davide Giulietti and Nicola Cerame were victims of falls that required transport to the hospital for the appropriate interventions before being discharged. The team directed by Luca Scinto in the Calenzano race obtained seventh place with the Florentine from Rufina, the sprinter Niccolo Iacchi, while during the 22 laps of the Calenzano circuit he proved to be among the most lively and enterprising Michele Pascarella. Finally, a good placing in the race for Matthew Lights, the athlete from Limite sull'Arno who runs in the Monsummanese sports club. Luci ranked sixth.
