Cycling: The Gran Fondo della Versilia in Viareggio

Viareggio, May 3, 2025 - The headquarters of the 27th Versilia Grand Fund scheduled for Sunday, May 4, is the Cittadella del Carnevale. Here all the preliminary gathering operations will take place, organized by Tuscany Legend, the Lucca-based company that organizes the race, and it will also be the location of the pasta party at the end of the event and where the final awards will be given. There are two routes for the medio and granfondo that have been renovated and offer balanced routes suited to the characteristics of sprinters and climbers. The mediofondo route is 72 km long with a difference in altitude of 1.200 meters, with three timed sections.

The Gran Fondo route is 105 kilometers long with a 1.920 meter difference in altitude and four timed sections. These are basically four timed climbs included in the event, along the climbs of Capriglia, Monteggiori, Pedona and Fiano Loppeglia. The routes are immersed in the splendid landscapes of Versilia, between seas and hills, and offer a fascinating spectacle. Meeting on Sunday morning at 6 am at the Cittadella del Carnevale, while the official start will be at 8 am. Participation in the Gran Fondo della Versilia (competitive) is open to the various categories of the sector of the Cycling Federation and Sports Promotion Bodies.
