The runners of the VF Group Bardiani-CSF Faizanè were protagonists from start to finish in the first stage of the The Great Road, a road race that has been held since 2022 in Galicia, an autonomous community of Spain.

The Varese native animated the race from the first kilometres Philip Turconi (photo), born in 2005, who joined the group of attackers. Thanks to the victory of the first intermediate sprint and the bonuses, he obtained the leadership of the young riders' classification and the fifth position in the general classification.

Reabsorbed by the Turconi group shortly before the second GPM, he tried Martin Marcellusi with a courageous attack from afar, 35 km from the finish, together with the Spaniard Castellón. The two managed to have up to 1'10” of margin, but the group progressively reduced the gap. At -10 km, Marcellusi insisted alone, but his action was cancelled by Soudal, who at -6 km successfully completed the chase.

In the final sprint Filippo Magli he achieved tenth place: it's the first Top 10 this season for the Empoli player.
