Marina di Carrara (Massa Carrara), 11 May 2025 – Six days ahead of his birthday, which is Saturday 17 May, the twenty-year-old Russian Ilya Savekin celebrated the anniversary, winning alone with a handful of seconds over a group of 40 runners, the thirty-sixth edition of the Marble Industries Grand Prix, an international race for Under 23s organized by Asd Fausto Coppi of President Andrea Borghini. In the history of the race whose origins date back to 1954 when Emilio Ciolli from Valdarno won the first edition, Savekin's is the tenth victory of a foreign athlete. Behind the brilliant winner, the sprint of the group that was unable to catch the fugitive (maximum advantage of 16”) was won by Biagini of the VF Group Bardiani CSF Faizanè over Menghini of the General Store Essegibi F.lli Curia. Savekin's courageous attack, the result of excellent condition (he had come fourth 24 hours earlier in Marcialla in the Giacomo Matteotti Trophy) was launched by the young athlete on the plain six km from the finish line after a fast race along the 4 flat laps interspersed with the four laps with the climb of Ponti di Vara in the area of ​​the splendid marble quarries. For the winner, this is the second seasonal success in Italy after the race he had won in Vittorio Veneto.
