Cycling: Gran Premio Industrie del Marmo, a luxury international

Carrara, 9 May 2025 – Three days before its taking place, the Asd Fausto Coppi of the president AAndrea Borghini wanted to present the 36th edition of the Gran Premio Industrie del Marmo, an international event scheduled for Sunday 11 May in Marina di Carrara as has been happening for some years, waiting to return with the start and finish of the race in the historic centre of Carrara.

In addition to the president Andrea Borghini, his father Giorgio, a historic manager of the Fausto coppi and of this race, the former professional Fabrizio Convalle (director of the organization), Mario Rossi main sponsor of the race with his company Il Fiorino Marmi leader in the stone sector. Sunday promises to be another day of great cycling with 32 teams at the start for 168 athletes, a dozen Continental teams, as many foreign teams between National and club, and all the other formations that are in the ascendant.

As for the route between work in progress in the Marina di Carrara area and a landslide in the Bedizzano area, we had to change the path which remains challenging with 4 “low” laps all on the flat and 4 “high” laps with the climb towards Ponti di Vara and the majestic marble quarries. The arrival after 180 kilometers will be at the height of Piazza Menconi in Marina di Carrara”.

Last year the Versilian won Thomas Data absent this time for having passed the elite, and among its winners we also remember in recent years the Australian Michael Storer recent winner of the Tour of the Alps, one of the most awaited riders in the Giro d'Italia that starts today from Albania.
