Matteotti Trophy 2024: New Course for the National Race in Marcialla
The 71st edition of the Trofeo Matteotti will be held in Marcialla with a renewed route of 158 km and 174 participants.

News for the 71st Matteotti Trophy, the national elite and under 23 race which takes place in Marcialla, presented at the "Sassoli" Media Center in the Pegaso building in via Cavour in Florence, in the presence of the President of the Regional Council Antonio Mazzeo. This year the event organized by the local Sports Committee led by Armando Nesi, and by the Aics Police of Florence, will take place on Saturday 10 May on a different route 158 km long starting at 13,30 from Piazza Brandi, also the arrival point.
After the first 10 km, the race will cover a 30 km circuit three times with the climb of San Donnino and passages from Marcialla, then a stretch of 57 km with the climb of the "Cipressini" from Poggibonsi to Barberino Val d'Elsa, and the final in the opposite direction to the usual route. Then from Tavarnelle Val di Pesa to Bivio Canaglia, descent to Sambuca, Pontenuovo where the climb towards Tavarnelle and Marcialla will begin with the last surge less than 400 meters from the expected arrival shortly before 17,30:XNUMX.
The Olearia Valpesana Trophy is up for grabs for this classic that began in 1952 with the first winner Gastone Nencini, while in 2024 Nicolò Garibbo won with a crescendo finale. There are currently 174 registered participants with almost all the strongest national teams.
