Sepang, 2 November 2024 – Francesco Bagnaia Falls and Jorge Martin Wins Sprint Race of the MotoGP Malaysia GP. The worst case scenario for Pecco, who had been the fastest until the pole this morning. Practice
The Ducati rider dominated the first free practice sessions yesterday and then Practice 1. With a time of 1'57"679 he beat the Spaniard Martin on Ducati Prima Pramac by 5 hundredths, who crashed without consequences 2' from the end of the session. Third was Bastianini on Ducati, almost 2 tenths from the top, followed by Vinales on Aprilia (+0"462). Fifth was Alex Marquez on Ducati Gresini (+0"617), sixth was Quartararo on Yamaha (+0"624). Seventh was Morbidelli on Ducati Prima Pramac (+0"631), eighth place for Rins on Yamaha, ninth Miller on KTM and tenth Marc Marquez on Ducati Gresini. In the morning's FP1, Pecco had stopped the clock at 1"58"795, ahead of Vinales and Bezzecchi.
Valencia GP cancelled
The GP of Valencia MotoGP has been cancelled. A decision that was expected after the tragic storm that brought several parts of Spain to their knees. Dorna's statement: "MotoGP will not race in Valencia, but for Valencia. The championship will collectively commit to supporting the relief funds that already exist and ensure a positive impact connected to the area in the best way for the people and communities it has been a part of for so long. Efforts will begin as early as the Malaysian GP and continue for the final round of 2024, with a new venue and dates to be announced as soon as they are confirmed. Fans around the world, the riders and the paddock deserve a sporting finale to the 2024 season that can make a vital contribution to supporting the communities in which we race.
