Domenicali bids farewell to Martin: “A love story with a happy ending”
Ducati CEO on the new world champion: a great love story. Borgo Panigale's domination is clear thanks also to Bagnaia, Marquez and Bastianini

Claudio Domenicali
Barcelona, November 18, 2024 – The number one on the hull leaves Ducati and moves on Aprilia. Jorge Martin leaves Borgo Panigale by winning the world title, but also with a contract signed with Noale for the next two seasons, a choice resulting from Ducati's decision to promote Marc Marquez and not him in the official Lenovo team. He will debut on Tuesday in the tests with the new bike and in the red house there is certainly regret for the loss of a fast, very fast rider, but also the awareness of having placed their trust in a great champion found again like Marquez. It is time to say goodbye, therefore, between Martin and Ducati, a love story that ended well.
Domenicali: “Proud, wonderful story”
The decision is made, it's official, Jorge Martin will not ride a Ducati bike and the Pramac team will move to Yamaha. If there was a way to separate, this, with the title, was the best, even if the number one will go to Aprilia. No friction, no arguments: the company's support was total. The CEO Claudio Sundays starts from the authentic domination of the Italian bike, which clearly confirms itself as the best on the planet: "The domination expressed by Ducati will remain in the hearts of the fans - his words - I am very happy for Martin, an incredible rider and a talent who grew up with us. He made his dream come true. We also celebrate the Ducati system, with the third consecutive title". No regrets, therefore, for having let the world champion rider leave for another Italian manufacturer, the Aprilia: “His victory is proof that love stories can end beautifully and there is no better way to celebrate the work done in these years. I thank the Pramac team who have done an incredible job”, again Sundays. An impressive season, with Martin champion, but a bagnaia with eleven seasonal victories, like the greats of the world championship, and a Marc Marquez found, fighting with a solid Aeneas bastianini for third place. An unrepeatable year, considering that next season Ducati will have two less bikes, they will switch to Yamaha with Pramac, and several talented riders who left as Bezzecchi, in Aprilia, bastianini, in KTM: “I want to congratulate all the Ducati riders – the manager concluded – Bagnaia fought until the end without giving up, Marquez and Bastianini contributed to a record-breaking season and the first four expressed an impressive technical level and were in deep harmony with the bike”. The difference was made by Martin's consistency, especially on Saturday: “Jorge and Pecco staged a great duel, but the winner was more tenacious and rightly triumphed in the end”. Now the end-of-season tests are scheduled for Tuesday 19 November with a morning session at 10 and an afternoon session at 14. All live on Sky Sport Moto GP, channel 208.
