Moto GP, Marquez speaks clearly: "In the official Ducati the pressure will be different"

Bologna, 16 December 2024 – Marc's second career Marquez has started again. The first one ended in 2020 with the injury in Jerez. The year in Gresini gave the eight-time world champion the answers he was looking for, he rediscovered that he was competitive, he rediscovered the joy of returning to the top and he understood that physically he is close to the top. Now comes the final test, namely the experience in the official Ducati team alongside Pecco bagnaia, with the aim of winning the ninth world championship and equalling Valentino Rossi. But there is a difference between being a satellite team rider and a factory rider, because now the pressure will increase dramatically, and with it the expectations. Marc knows it.  

Marquez: “You can’t finish seventh in the official Ducati”

In Gresini Marquez he returned to winning, he returned to the podium often, he showed that he is able to compete with bagnaia e Martin, riding a 2023 bike. There were a few too many mistakes, especially in qualifying, but in a satellite team sometimes the ups and downs take a back seat, while when you ride the factory bike you can't afford to make mistakes. And if in 2024 the expectations weren't set on winning the world championship, now they are. And everything is different: "In the factory Ducati you can't finish seventh in the Sprint Race - the words of Marquez on Dazn – The pressure is different and we will try to be as professional as possible, with the intention of adapting to what we find. The parties will have to find the best compromise”. Having gone very fast with an old bike, it seems inevitable to think that with the 2025 bike, and all the updates, Marc can compete for the top with Pecco. After all, his talent has blossomed again, after hard years, influenced by the many operations and an evident technical crisis of Honda: “Up until 2020, they were great years in Honda, but injuries appear when you least expect them and I entered a negative spiral – Marc's story – Gresini has become important in a short time and has given me an opportunity. You live in the present and not in the past”. The ideal environment, sometimes, turns out to be what is needed to relaunch, especially if they are managed at a family level like Gresini: “I found a very human team that gave me what I needed”, the beautiful response of the Spaniard. No one put pressure on Marquez, even when the slightest mistake occurred: “I always found calm and the best way to thank them was to give 100%. In the end we finished third in the standings”. Now a winter working on the 2025 Desmosedici with the first tests of the nine in the Sepang and Buriram tests, then the season starts with the Thailand Grand Prix from February 28 to March 2.
