Bologna, 30 January 2025 – Ktm continues, despite debts and the financial crisis. The new bike from the Austrian company was presented and Pedro will still be on board Acosta, the predestined one, who will live his first season in the official team. The young Spanish rider was hoping for a different situation, instead he ended up on the main bike in the very year in which the debt bubble of KTM burst, or rather of the parent company, with almost 3 billion in liabilities and a bankruptcy plan underway. And precisely with a view to reducing costs, KTM could leave the world championship between 2026 and 2027, forcing Acosta to look around for a competitive bike. In the meantime, the rider is ready to get involved and go as fast as possible with the available means and the risk of not having major updates during the year.

Acosta glosses over difficulties: "I'm calm"

It was supposed to be the year of consecration for Pedro Acosta and for Ktm that of approaching Ducati in the world championship, but the huge debts of the parent company have even called into question the very survival of the company. Having launched the failed cost-cutting plan, it was still decided to take part in the world championship (even if the sports program was reduced) with all the unknowns of the case regarding the development of the bike along the way and with Ducati that risks running away again. Without investments it becomes difficult to keep up with the pace of the opponents who will gradually update and improve their respective prototypes. Acosta, who will be Brad's partner Binder, has decided not to get caught up in KTM's problems and has chosen to stay focused on the track and the work to be done. He can do little to solve the company's financial problems and his task is only to go as fast as possible. These are his words: "The winter was intense, but I was calm also thanks to the visit I made to the factory. I can't talk about the rest and the only thing I can do is go as fast as possible". Also lending a hand is the new team manager, who is Aki Garlic, with a long experience in the world championship. He will organize the work. In short, in the midst of a thousand difficulties the racing department will try to do something good and Pedro Acosta, on the threshold of 20 years, remains a predestined one who will have a lot of market starting from next season, when he could leave the Austrians in any case. In his first season he obtained sixth place in the general classification with also a pole position and several podiums, immediately showing himself to be fast and competitive. KTM then completed the riders with Enea bastianini and Maverick Vinales who will ride for the satellite team: “It's the best lineup of riders that KTM has ever had and maybe the best on the grid,” Acosta concluded. Now the pre-season tests between Malaysia and Buriram and at the end of February the start of the Thai weekend that opens the 2025 MotoGP.
