Bagnaia and the curse of Saturday: "Qualifying ruined everything"
Saturday ruins Pecco Bagnaia's plans in Qatar. Qualifying is fatal. But he has always suffered in the Sprint Races: he needs to improve to be able to contain Marc Marquez

Pecco Bagnaia
Rome, April 14, 2025 – Just another Saturday, not an Italian Saturday. Pecco bagnaia he rises again on Sunday, but often suffers in the Sprint Race and if he also makes a mistake in qualifying everything gets complicated. Last year, if there hadn't been the sprint races, he would have won the world championship and even in 2025 he is accumulating delays, although Marc Marquez he is a torpedo even on Sunday and would have made a clean sweep without Austin's fall. Probably, however, if bagnaia had obtained a better position in qualifying at Losail he would have fought until the end with the number 93. Instead, starting eleventh, he had to squeeze the tires at the start to recover, paying the price in the final when the rear lost grip and performance. First of all, you need to improve your speed in the sprints and then you need to be perfect in qualifying, where Pecco knows how to string together the fastest lap.
Bagnaia: “Qualifying ruined everything”
This time the weekend of bagnaia had started well, with a good pace already on Friday, but everything got complicated on Saturday. The first time attack was not good and on the second there was a mistake: the fall prevented Pecco from making another attempt and the eleventh place on the grid was a condemnation. The current Moto GP does not allow imperfections in the fast lap: you need to start in front to manage the wear and Pecco was unable to do so having to recover. “I felt good on the bike this weekend, but qualifying ruined everything – the words of bagnaia – I was able to lap fast and in qualifying I would have beaten the 2024 time and the race was also fast, I only slowed down in the last laps”. And in addition to qualifying, the Sprint Race also represents a problem because bagnaia he can't find the same speed that he consistently finds on Sunday in the long race: "It makes me angry because I would like to do on Saturday what I can do on Sunday - the Ducati rider again - I was more aggressive, I was able to enter the curve well but when you recover from so far back you wear out the tyre a lot. That's why I struggled in the end". In short, slowly slowly bagnaia he is understanding the GP25 after the initial difficulties, but his problem is represented by Marc Marquez, who proceeds like lightning and appears unbeatable unless he makes mistakes. The advantage is still small, but number 93 seems to have the margin to control his opponents in every situation. He has seventeen points on his brother Alex and 26 on Pecco bagnaia, who is now already looking ahead to Jerez: “I feel quite comfortable with the bike, but not 100% yet. I’m still struggling to understand the limit of the front tyre, but I’m close. The next track is Jerez, which is very important on the front and we’ll continue to work to improve”.
